dd1 is nearly four and really into dolls and dressing up. i'd like to get her a doll with outfits to change, but not a baby as she already has one. thought of barbie but seems a bit fiddly for her age.

any ideas? thanks in advance...

polly pocket?

MrsBadger · 03/12/2008 13:38

you need either a Lilydoll or one of the [[http://www.corolle.com/us/catalogue/misscorolle.php5 Miss Corolles]

both much better and more appropriate than Barbie

MrsBadger · 03/12/2008 13:39

Miss Corolles

AnneOfAvonlea · 03/12/2008 13:39

Groovy Girls Dolls are good.

or a Corolle Trendie

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 03/12/2008 13:42

robbie ,roxanne and what ever her name is in argos is good.i'll find link.dd has roxanne.

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 03/12/2008 13:42

here

Can recommend Roby and Roxanne from Argos even though DH swears that they look like Chuckie. You can buy ordinary baby clothes for them to wear. My dds(4 & 6) love them.

Though the Corolle dolls are lovely but a bit more expensive.

pregnabrain · 03/12/2008 15:15

oh wow. these are all great. current faves are roxanne and lilydolls.

thanks v much

I saw lilydolls and groovy girls dolls in TK Maxx last week for £10.

pregnabrain · 03/12/2008 15:37

!!!!

does that mean that all TK Maxx's would have them? It's not like a normal shop is it?

There's nothing I like better than a good bargain!

Bishopston trading do great dolls, with sets of clothes to change into, plus are all fairtrade/organic cotton/eco dyes etc.

savoycabbage · 03/12/2008 17:57

I think TK Maxx does have some of the same stuff in their shops. There was a thread on here last week about washable nappies being in at TK Maxx and when I went they had them at mine too. That's when I saw the dolls.

twinklytoes · 03/12/2008 18:50

for those that have got smoby's roxanne - what size clothes do they wear?

pregnabrain · 03/12/2008 18:54

Right. I'm going to find my nearest TK Maxx then...

I really like the look of the Roxanne doll but it's enormous. It's 63cm - seems massive for dd.

The roby and roxanne dolls are big, and come in an even bigger box, which would look impressive christmas morning.

We have some size 0 clothes and they seem to fit fine.

My 4 year old loves her sisters roby and roxanne, so much so that Mum is buying her the fair haired girl for christmas, cant remember what she is called.

Washersaurus · 04/12/2008 21:55

I spotted these ones on the Argos site, but not sure if what you were thinking (or even if they are in stock)

does it have to be a doll? you can buy outfits for the cuddly animals in the bear factory/build a bear workshop.

harpomarx · 04/12/2008 22:08

dd (4) has had a few barbies and a big bag of clothes (all bought secondhand) for a while now and mostly manages to dress them, though I have to help her occasionally when she wants to put on a particularly skimpy outfit (usually when i am cooking or on the phone...)

the good thing about them is you can pick up bits from them from charity shops really easily and cheaply, so you can get cars, horses etc etc.

nappyaddict · 04/12/2008 22:10

amanda jane dolls

loads on here

pregnabrain · 05/12/2008 17:44

Brilliant! Thank you so much.

Will try TK Maxx for Lilydoll, but if no joy am loving this little one:

www.dollymania.co.uk/ballerina-fair-trade-handmade-doll-p-17.html

ticks the boxes of doll obsession and Angelina Ballerina obsession all in one present!

lordy. maybe i should buy her a meccano set instead and try to bend the gender stereotype just a leedle bit.
