I went on Jessops and they can do a photobook, that is they will transfer your digital images into a book form that can either be hardback or softback or even linen. The whole thing can be personalised and looks really good. dh has lots of photos of his old cars and motorbikes and others of his travels to Thailand and Australia - all they are doing is gathering dust atm, but I know that he'd love to show some to his kids and have them in a more convenient form.

So I'm going to pick the best photos that will provoke the best memories and transfer them onto this photo book, example here. It's personal, it's something I know he'd like, it requires more effort than just buying him something and I know he likes to think effort has gone into a present. It's ideal! I'm so chuffed I found it!

What a lovely idea. I do a photo book every year as I don't like keeping all of the photos on the computer. I have also done one for each of the children's first years.

Compare prices at Truprint? Snapfish etc. I've always used Truprint but I guess they're all similar.

Fantastic gift idea Rhubarb.

According to 'Digital Camera Magazine' who did a teat of these services, Jessops is really good, but even better are myphotobook.co.uk

test, not teat

Just checked your link, you get a fiver off if you're a new customer, but if I'm right, you can have 98 pages of a booklet form photobook at Jessops from £9.65 (bit suspicious of the "from", I wish they'd be more upfront), which is cheaper than myphotobook even with a fiver knocked off.

I didn't say cheaper, that would be fotobook.co.uk. The other one was the editors choice. Also I have a discount code for mycreation.co.uk for 30% off DCMAG10

Oooh!

Hmm, I think I prefer the booklet format rather than wire-bound and Jessops does seem to be the cheapest so far (yes, I'm skint!). All I have to do now is select the best pics - I've 3 full bags of photos and 2 albums, I may be some time!

Ah well, always nice to have options

kiwibella · 02/12/2008 15:17

that is such a personal idea, Rhubarb! I'm sure your dh will appreciate it

I like the idea of making a yearly one Squiffy... we have endless photos on the computer that never get seen.

I have used photobox before (for a gift) and was impressed with the quality. They often have deals too.
