I've got a boy, so have never looked at girls clothes; decided that I'd like to get my niece something to wear for Christmas (she's a cast-offs child): so far have looked at Gap, Monsoon, John Lewis and they are all TERRIBLE! Pink and frilly and unbearable. Oh, and Boden: also horrible.

Who sells nice, sensible, pretty but not disgustingly girly baby clothes? Please! I'm amazed this is difficult!

(Oh, budget is no more than £20 for a nice sweater, less for inner clothes if you see what I mean...)

TK Maxx often have nice stuff for that sort of age.

there are some gorgeous little girls clothes in tesco and sainsbury's if you dont want to spend a fortune, or next do some lovely stuff for little ones.

Good idea with supermarkets, but we live in central london and have no car! so needs to be a 'real' shop, unfortunately... Will look at the others - any other ideas?

DD is 2 and I love Pumpkin Patch for her. Don't know if there's one near you.

They do some lovely appliqued tops and ra-ra skirts in reds and blues etc, which look beautiful with boots, nice and girly without being too pink & sugary! DD loves her "cheep cheep top" (has an owl on it) and her fave skirt & hat are also from there.

Definitely check them out.
