Hi,
I want to buy a machine that brews decent coffee as a gift. I don't want to spend too much money.
Ideas, tips anyone?

Tbh, I find the quality of the coffee is more dependent on whether you grind your own beans or use slightly coffee flavoured dust ground coffee. If the latter, then I think the grinder is an excellent gift, and maybe some beans to go with it?

And I always use a cafetiere, rather than letting the coffee sit around on a hot plate.

Obviously is a matter of taste! I do love my coffee

Yes we love good coffee. Where can you get one and how much?

cafetieres available in every department store - I got a lovely stainless steel one with a glass insert for £7 in TKMaxx - proper beans (I buy mine online from Fortnum and Mason for a treat). I got a coffee grinder from Argos about 10 years ago for a tenner - still going strong (very simple mechanism)

Lakeland do grinders for £20/£40 (they aren't the cheapest, but I love their absolutely no excuses returns policy).

I can recommend Waitrose Monsoon Malabar & Sumatran Somethingorother coffee beans. Also, if using a cafetiere (which I do if making more than one cup, otherwise I use a stove-top coffee maker), don't grind the beans too fine or I find the coffee is gritty.

But decent beans, ground fresh then brewed in any old cafetiere, is the way to go!
