Ok, I know Christmas is about families and children should be encouraged to be creative and we should make them feel good by displaying their crap art and so on, but why oh why does it have to be on my treeeeeeeeee?!?! I normally say that I like it displayed on the mantelpiece where everybody can see how brilliant it is but she's not being persuaded this year

I'll put the good ones on our tree and the naff ones on his. It will inspire him to improve. ha! ha! Really I do Red, gold, and trad every year it saves tons of money and anything else seems to go with it. I even had a little tree when I lived in digs in my room

TheMuppetsChristmasMuggle · 01/12/2008 10:46

DD has her own little tree its on the landing between DPs office and her bedroom (loft room)

Umlellala · 01/12/2008 10:54

With Custardo on this one.

'Tasteful' (nearly typed tastefuk ) co-ordinating Christmas decorations are sooooooo tacky! A riot of colour and sparkle please. How can tinsel ever be stylish ffs?

smugmarried · 01/12/2008 11:37

I want a tree like randoms

Tinkjon · 01/12/2008 12:05

"Come on it's really not nice for children to
grow up feeling the decorations they made are not good enough for the family tree."

Oh FGS.... [rolls eyes]

Everybody calm down and think about it. Now do you think that:

(a) I give my daughter the impression that her artwork is rubbish and I would rather throw it away than treasure it forever.

or

(b) this was just a lighthearted jokey thread.

It may have started as a light hearted thread but sadly, as shown, there are people who banish their DCs artwork upstairs because it isn't good enough! We still use the childish artwork even now the DCs are older. Our Christmas tree is nostalgic and full of memories -much nicer than following this years trend.

QuintessentialShadow · 01/12/2008 12:15

Two Christmas trees is the way to go. Two. One for YOU to keep pristine, and one for the kids to keep funky and happy and tear- welling=up-ish....

TheMuppetsChristmasMuggle · 01/12/2008 13:04

so with you QS - thats what we have done this year.

girlandboy · 01/12/2008 13:09

Am embarrassed to say that I have 5 trees!

ILiketoMarmiteMarmite · 01/12/2008 13:32

Erm was lighthearted comment in vein of my earlier post. Poss should have riddled it with winks, grins, etc, but ill-advisedly left my sparkling wit to emote for itself...

TheMuppetsChristmasMuggle · 01/12/2008 13:51

girl&boy 5 trees wow

starbear · 01/12/2008 19:46

My mum & gran never put my stuff up. I'm attending an analyst, it costing a fortune but I'm worth it. Oh! and the naff christmas present from my Mum, how did I survive when she had six jobs just to pay for Christmas.

sparklytinselbella · 01/12/2008 19:53

Repeat after me:

Christmas is for children.

They'll be gone in a few years and I'll be sat on my own with a tin of pilchards for Christmas dinner.

I will lighten up.

thisisyesterday · 01/12/2008 19:57

lol tinkjon. my mum NEVER let us put anything on her perfect tree.
it does look very nice, I have to admit. but no, no children's "art" on it

elsiepiddock · 01/12/2008 20:01

Well, I let no-one touch my perfect tree in the sitting room!

Our dcs have another one (brought in from the garden - has been going strong for 9 years)in their playroom which they can adorn with all their shite home-made decorations.

PeriodicalCicada · 01/12/2008 21:33

My mum's Christmas tree still has a nativity scene made of toilet rolls with little faces painted on them. My sister made it when she was 5, she's 26 not and they get funnier every year
