Would like to provide my English conversation group with a bit of traditional British hospitality this Christmas.

I would offer regular wine as well as mulled, like mince pies mulled wine isn't everyone's drink of choice.

MegBusset · 01/12/2008 12:06

Eggnog!

georgiemum · 01/12/2008 12:14

yes please. Mine's a very large Sloe Gin.

NomDePlume · 01/12/2008 12:20

Tea
Coffee (nice coffee though)
Port
Sherry

bella29 · 01/12/2008 12:26

Tequila slammers.

Tinkjon · 01/12/2008 12:29

Definitely mulled wine.

bella29 · 01/12/2008 12:31

Okay, gin then.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 01/12/2008 12:32

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Bailey's. Bailey's in a glass with ice or even instead of milk in coffee.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 01/12/2008 12:33

Oh sorry janeite you did mention it. Good girl.

bella29 · 01/12/2008 12:37

Alright. Will settle for a voddy but if you can't do that I ain't coming

carmenelectra · 01/12/2008 12:43

I like mine with Baileys too, either on its own or in coffee

georgiemum · 01/12/2008 12:44

Forget the mince pies then, just open the bar

bella29 · 01/12/2008 12:45

Someone who thinks like me, Georgiemum!!!

Othersideofthechannel · 01/12/2008 12:50

LOL at Tequila slammers!

I would.... but the DCs will be there and I do not want to encourage forceful banging of glasses on the table for them to copy later on!

Good for their motor skills development, I say!

Surfermum · 01/12/2008 19:29

I think I might invite myself to Bella's house.

sparklytinselbella · 01/12/2008 19:36

It's always fun here, you know

sparklytinselbella · 01/12/2008 19:37

This is my new name, btw, which someone calling herself SantasSlut has just ridiculed over on the Christmas names thread.

Very upset.

And that's not just the three double martinis talking, either....

hatwoman · 01/12/2008 19:38

I'm old fashioned. if it was 3 o'clock - tea. if it was 5 - mulled wine.

sparklytinselbella · 01/12/2008 19:39

Hey hatwoman, loosen up!

Fancy a tequila slammer?

asdmumandteacher · 01/12/2008 19:41

mulled wine mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

hatwoman · 01/12/2008 19:43

the bizarre thing is that if it was 11am I'd stretch to a mulled wine...I think it's the imminence of a meal (even if not with host) that somehow makes the booze slip down without guilt.

we have a tequila lake at the hat house having bought ingredients for cocktails for dh's 40th and just not shifting them. I did my bit with a 3 am maguerita

stroppyknickers · 01/12/2008 19:44

A lovely glass of white wine. After breakfast, that would be my stock answer to any social gathering...

spicemonster · 01/12/2008 19:44

Mulled wine obv. Even the church does mulled wine at 2pm after carols!

sparklytinselbella · 01/12/2008 19:47

Soory, hatwoman. Didn't mean to give you a hard time for not being a gin-soaked reprobate like myself.

Gold star for doing a 3am marguerita though
