I thought I saw a sign somewhere saying they'd been recalled but for the life of me can't think wh,y they must be one of the safest toys you can get, they've been going for years. Charity shops often have them,my dc loved them.

WowOoo · 28/11/2008 14:06

We recently got some from good old John Lewis. They hadn't been recalled there as far as I know, but shall check before we give them as pressie now.

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 28/11/2008 14:06

Stickbricks arent that great anyway, the novelty soon weras off because you can make anything with them, duplo is soo much better, or mega blocks, but duplo will last years and when we got mine down from the loft i was playing with it, at 22

wideratthehips · 28/11/2008 14:07

thanks for your reply..i thought it would be a great idea for ds1 and ds2 to share.... cooperative play type thing...but cant find them..may do a little research to see if they were recalled thanks

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 28/11/2008 14:09

of course i meant can't

MilaMae · 28/11/2008 14:09

I wouldn't worry -how could they be dangerous? I think I saw the sign in ELC but could have dreamt it,had the dc with me so may have not read it properly.

wideratthehips · 28/11/2008 14:09

cant find them on the john lewis website. we have megablocks which are great but i spotted a big box of sticklebricks in ds1 reception class and i though hmmm...good for both of them to play together

Oh sorry, I didn't go that far

Get Duplo/Lego. You will get more play value out of them. Ds is 8.5 and still plays with lego, but he wouldn't still be playing with stickle bricks.

AnarchyAunt · 28/11/2008 14:14

Lots of 'em!!

MilaMae · 28/11/2008 14:17

OMG can you see what they're going for!!!!!!!!

ohdearwhatamess · 28/11/2008 14:32

They're not that great. I'd get something else instead - lego or duplo. Ours are only played with once in a blue moon.

linzs · 28/11/2008 14:40

If you know someone with a Costco card they are selling these at the moment - are really good price too.

I think they have changed them slightly as they seem more rubbery than before - IYKWIM.

I think they have changed them slightly to prevent them breaking up as recall notice mentions.

Indith · 28/11/2008 14:45

Duplo is way better. Ds has only just started playing with my old stickle bricks, he has been at the duplo for months.

ChopsTheDuck · 28/11/2008 14:51

www.joolop.com/infant-preschool-toys/sticklebricks-100-piece-bucket.html in stock

They are brilliant, mine love them, and we do have duplo as well. Both get played with equally. They are softer and bendier now, than what they used to be years ago.

ChopsTheDuck · 28/11/2008 14:52

whoops

girlywhirly · 28/11/2008 17:01

Argos catalogue page 1589 item 13. £14.99 for a bucket of 75 pieces.

wideratthehips · 28/11/2008 19:01

thanks everyone.....£35 is a bit steep for 100 pieces though, thanks for the link though.
argos is out of stock for home delivery and in my local stores

i got my ds2 (19mths) some off of ebay for xmas as he keeps trying to put together ds1 (5ys) kid knex - and fails!! Paid hardly anything for it(so dont mind if only played with a few times!!) and the bricks and tub are in perfect condition.

KatieScarlett1 · 28/11/2008 20:29

Maybe they were really recalled because they are the work of the devil! If I stand on one more! I mean they stick in your feet like little pins!
