This is my xmas budget for my children....they have big stockings that I would like to fill for £12.50 each -

at the minute I have seen so quite nice fleecy pyjamas in primani for £3 a shot and was thinking a chocolate santa each....any other suggestions for me?

Do you have a Poundland?

They usually have lots of good stuff.

Fimbo · 26/11/2008 16:19

Or The Works?

I don't know the ages of your dc but they have Thomas dvd's for £2.99 or 2 for £5 and some others too.

MrsSanta · 26/11/2008 16:20

How old are they, boys or girls.

Fiveplusbump · 26/11/2008 16:22

A toothbrush

A flannel with their favourite character on.

Gold chocolate coins.

Gel pens /crayons.

Lipbalm (if girls)

Get thee to a poundland .

Hawkins bazaar have loads of pocket money stocking fillers too .

northender · 26/11/2008 16:27

The choc santas from aldi are lovely and only £1.70ish (quite big so good in the stocking filling department!)

Crafty bits and bobs. You could buy in bulk to save money and then split into 4 packs.

Hawkins bazaar fab, but quite pricey - you need big things at £1 each!
Try Yorkshire Trading Company/Poudland/Woolworths maybe/Bargain Store/The Works.
Lidl do chocolate santas for £1 and they are quite big so fill quite a bit of stocking.
Themed cake mix packs (eg from Sainsburys) are about £1.30 each.
Hat/scarf/gloves set for £1 from poundland or similar.
Big book or activity set from The Works/Poundland or similar.
Boxed games from somewhere like Yorkshire Trading Company, maybe Woollies on special offer - the box takes up a lot of room, and its something to do on Xmas day.
Soft toy, ditto takes up lots of space and whatever age they are they love them - try charity shops, they often have brand new ones with tags still on, or so clean you can't tell they're not new, for under £1.

Quality Save also fantastic if you have one near you.

mazzystartled · 26/11/2008 18:42

there was a brill idea on another thread - mini cereal variety pack - takes up lots of room for a quid.

harpomarx · 26/11/2008 18:46

mini cereal variety pack???? really?

why not a few cans of baked beans while you're at it?

compo · 26/11/2008 18:49

it keeps them for getting up early for brekkie

mrsmaidamess · 26/11/2008 18:52

I buy mine a box of Maltesers each. Only 31 but they seem so...decadent

mrsmaidamess · 26/11/2008 18:52

£1, NOT 31.

gah.

mazzystartled · 26/11/2008 18:53

yep, massive treat in our house. only get them when camping otherwise is boring sugarless, quinoa-based products. mine are v little btw, only 4 and 1 so will like it, may keep it up for years in typical parental joke type way.

NorthernLurker · 26/11/2008 18:53

I think cereal variety pack is a great idea - mine love it when we have those on holiday!

TeenyTinyTorya · 26/11/2008 18:54

Hawkin's Bazaar is amazing - lots of weird and wonderful things for £1 and under.

InTheseShoes · 26/11/2008 18:55

A gingerbread reindeer/penguin/etc - often on a BOGOf or whatever.
Satsuma or two!
Innocent smoothie £2.49 for 4 (ergo 62p each)
Do you have a Quality Save nearby? Tis ace for stuff like that.
Sticker packs?
felt tips?

Fennel · 26/11/2008 19:14

oh the variety packs would work well for us.

My dds are 8, 7 and 4 and still get extremely excited at a variety cereal pack. Especially the coco pops, highly exotic. The 4yo was hugging an empty little coco pops box lovingly the other day, at a model making session where someone else had donated boxes. And that was an empty one.

duckyfuzz · 26/11/2008 19:22

books from the bookpeople

duckyfuzz · 26/11/2008 19:27

what ages?

FrannyandZooey · 26/11/2008 19:34

god my ds would swoon for the variety cereal

i don't know if you have The Range near you but is brilliant for craft stuff

eg card making set 99p
big a4 sparkly notebook 99p
gel pens 99p

FrannyandZooey · 26/11/2008 19:35

oh and wilkinson's have tons of crap stuff
you can order online

Goober · 26/11/2008 19:35

My DD was asking for gifts for her friends. 6 of them! I puffed for a bit then got myself orff to Poundland. Got a pack of 6 soft pink flannells, a pack of 6 chocolate santa lollys and 2 packs of 3 bubble bath christmas shapes (those squishy ones that look like mini inflatables which I later found individually in Superdrug for 99p each.)I have bundled up a flannell, a bubble bath and a lolly with a silver ribbon. Ta-dah!

ANTagony · 26/11/2008 19:39

Start saving your boxes/ packets from everything like cereals and tea and use these to wrap your gifts if (with Christmas wrap too). It bulks things up and makes the stockings stick out at the sides.

Fennel · 26/11/2008 20:00

I get a lot from charity shops and car boot sales. All sorts of little bits and pieces.

noonki · 26/11/2008 20:03
