What would you buy a 2 year old boy with £10 on Amazon????

My cousin wants to spend £10 on DS on Amazon, he is nearly 2. He has a million toys so I am thinking books- but which ones would you recommend? He does have quite a lot of books too, but most are inherited from DD, so something boyish would be good.

Things my DS likes - Click Clack Moo, Orange Pear Apple Bear, Hairy McClary, Harry and the Dinosaurs, anything by Jill Murphy, Winnie the Witch, Katie Morag, any Happy Family book by Allan Ahlberg

mishymoo · 24/11/2008 10:59

Books my DS loved at that age and still does (he's 3.5). The Gruffalo series ..here

HappyMummyOfOne · 24/11/2008 11:01

Ketchup on your Cornflakes, Zoopermarket, Cheese and Tomato Spider and Pants are all books that were very loved in our house.

francagoestohollywood · 24/11/2008 11:13

Any Maisy book and busy farm carousel was my ds's favourite for a long time.
He also enjoyed big wings

francagoestohollywood · 24/11/2008 11:15

We are also big fans of richard scarry. (Ds is six and still enjoys his books

grouchyoscar · 24/11/2008 11:15

Duplo

leoleo · 24/11/2008 11:16

We love Mick Inkpen. Nice picture books with lovely pictures and stories.
The Bear, Nothing etc.
My DS has had them since about that age and we still read them. I love the stories as well - nice to read.

leoleo · 24/11/2008 11:18

And the Blue Balloon.
here they are

suwoo · 24/11/2008 11:18

These are very helpful thank you. Thinking the duck in the truck and the stick man so far.

DD is a bit younger but for Christmas I have just got her The Elusive Moose (boardbook version as she's tough on her books). My mother has got her Where the Wild Things Are - possibly a bit old for her but she really enjoys it when I get it out from the library.

She also loves:

Elmer books
Eric Carl's Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you See (even more than the Hungry Caterpillar)
That's Not My blah blah
Anything by Judith Kerr (The Tiger who Came to Tea, Mog & Me etc etc)
Anything by Julia Donaldson (esp Tiddler and Sharing a Shell)

Am I the only one who would consider simply getting myself a nice novel with the voucher?

Would take dc out to choose nice book too, at a pound shop

The Going on a Bear Hunt book and game set is fabbo - but you'd have to chip in as it's more than £10

BustyMcGee · 24/11/2008 11:45

I've ordered mine "Convertibles: Fire Engine by Paula Borton" a book, playmat and car in one.

suwoo · 24/11/2008 11:57

Now that looks good Busty.

Ooooh treedelivery! I LOVE buying kids books. Most novels I read only once, but kids books get read and re-read and re-read. Much better use of a tenner.

treedelivery · 24/11/2008 12:05

True.

Still though, new book, milky cocoa and some biscuits ansd a few hours on couch.....drool.

Must get less selfish must get less selfish must get less selfish must get less selfish

LuLuBai · 24/11/2008 13:08

LOL - that does sound good.

treedelivery · 24/11/2008 13:20

And Baileys to put in cocoa. Crafty!

suwoo · 24/11/2008 14:08

Don't think Amazon sell Baileys though

Discrimination against the selfish parent. tut. I meet it everywhere.

suwoo · 24/11/2008 14:30

How very dare they discriminate against this prevalent group of society.

treedelivery · 24/11/2008 15:13

Childrens books with attached parental miniatures. We could make a million!

So, Going on a Bear Hunt board game [any age can play so long as can spin the spinny thing] with baileys mini. Happy Days!
