Any recommendations? DS is two years old and we want to get him a play kitchen for christmas but there are so many and I don't have a clue which to go for.

Please help!!

If I could afford it, I would love this...

1066girl · 21/11/2008 21:34

...and sometimes I would let dd play with it, too.

bristols · 21/11/2008 21:37

Is definitely gorgeous but a little out of our price range, unfortunately.

(I must admit I am definitely looking forward to playing with it too!)

I got this for DD's for christmas.
It is replacing the one we got from my SIL as they take up so much room and this ones folds away!

Stinkyfeet · 21/11/2008 21:41

We've got this one. Ds's (2.9 and 5.7) both love it.

AmIWhatAndWhy · 21/11/2008 21:43

Oh wow chirpygirl, I have been coveting wooden ones too but can't afford nor have space. That one looks brilliant!
Have you seen it in real life? Is it quite sturdy?

buktus · 21/11/2008 21:44

i bought this step 2 one for my dd who was 2 last xmas she loves it, loads of storage space, everything bleeps and it lights upit comes with a great accesory set too

Am thinking of going for this one

Stinky, the ELC one looks lovely, especially with the free accessory pack, but it's over our budget.

It's in a box in my wardrobe at the moment. I do need to put it up to 'test it' shall have a look for you

sweetkitty · 21/11/2008 21:55

Bristols - I have just bought that one for my DDs, it is replacing the £70 huge one they had from a few years ago, it was too big and a friends DD sat on the oven door and broke it, it was really shoddily made too so this year I am only getting a cheap one.

Stinkyfeet · 21/11/2008 21:56

ebay?

Chirpygirl · 21/11/2008 22:16

It just took 5 mins each to put up and down, and could be knocked over unless you stand it in front of a wall, in which case I think it would be okay. It's quite loud tho!

mamadiva · 21/11/2008 22:33

This one looks good if you could afford it, wouldnt tip over so easily

whomovedmychocolate · 21/11/2008 22:43

I won a Fifi and the flowerpots one on Mumsnet. Umm I wouldn't recommend it especially, apart from being fiercely ugly, it has a cardboard bit on the back which broke after five minutes and it comes on during the night and talks to us

MilaMae · 21/11/2008 23:14

We have the ELC fold away sizzling kitchen-it's fab, sort of packs away into a tool box. DD played with it all day today. Can't recommend it enough if you're short of space like me

SameAsYou · 21/11/2008 23:22

I want this one!

Guitargirl · 22/11/2008 10:05

I had my eye on the pastel wooden one that GLTC does for DD here but then discovered at scan that new baby is a boy so forward planning decided to get a less 'girly' one so he can play with it too - if it lasts that long!

Have just ordered that same one buktus has for DD's 2nd birthday.

Yanda · 22/11/2008 18:15

We have the pastel wooden one from GLTC, it's beautiful

But the Argos one looks good Bristols, the sounds will be great!

Andthentherewerethree · 22/11/2008 18:32

The john lewis one is lovely, we brought it for dd for christmas and its really solid. At the moment is built in the garage to make sure all the parts were there. We had the red retro kitchen which someone linked ot on ebay but is cheaper at ELC for same kitchen.but it wasn't as kid freindly as the john lewis one.

For ones that cost a bit less, toys r us had soem on special offer instore, might be worht checking out?

I went for the one I mentioned in this thread in the end. It suited our budget at the moment and we'll see how it goes. Hopefully it'll stand up to DS's 'cooking'! Thanks for all your advice, ladies
