Right, long story short, my bf lives up the road with her dh ; lets call them Mrs A and Mr A.

We regularly hid their Christas presents to each other in our house.

Mr A has bought Mrs A soemthing which she has specifically said to us she would not want.

DO we tell him or keep out of it?

Tell him

PortAndLemon · 19/11/2008 21:05

Is it likely to be returnable/exchangeable? If so then I would say something, yes, but in a nice way.

geordieminx · 19/11/2008 21:05

If he could take it back tell him, if not keep schtum

nowwearefour · 19/11/2008 21:07

what port and geordie said.

nickytwotimes · 19/11/2008 21:09

It could be exchanged.

Oh I will worry about this all night now.

I will tell him, but very gently...

TheOtherMaryPoppinsFleckles · 19/11/2008 21:11

squeaver · 19/11/2008 21:13

Yes, tell us!! Is it from Ann Summers?

TheOtherMaryPoppinsFleckles · 19/11/2008 21:19

I think it's a teapot

ingles2 · 19/11/2008 21:22

it's a juicer isn't it!

nickytwotimes · 19/11/2008 21:24

Oh, all right n=then.

It's the entire box set of Friends.
Quite a pricey gift.

geordieminx · 19/11/2008 21:33

You see that is the sort of thing a bloke would buy, after the dw mentioned once that she quite liked Friends....

I once mentioned that I would quite like to learn how to mix music, the next week dp came home with a full set of decks and headphones - £300 worth...They went back.

Now I have mentioned a few times that I like Gina shoes but he never takes the hint

We played on a Wii at a friends a while back, I didnt dare say I had enjoyed it else I know that would have been my xmas present, I know I sound ungrateful but I just dont want gadgets!!!

Definately tell him. Or tell your friend and she can drop it to him subtely.. i.e "Oh such and such from work just got the Friends box set from xxx, what a waste of money, I like Friends but honestly wouldnt want the box set as I havent got time to watch them, plus they are repeated on tv EVERY day" There, job done.

squeaver · 19/11/2008 21:33

Oh how boringly boring.

Is she not a Friends fan then?

differentID · 19/11/2008 21:35

tell him- he will be devastated xmas day if he gets a lukewarm reception to his pressie.

squeaver · 19/11/2008 21:35

Yes that's exactly what's happened. And he's probably feeling quite pleased with himself. Oh dear.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 19/11/2008 21:35

please please tell him. My DH once bought me a set of Nigella's mixing bowls for Christmas because I happened to mention I liked them walking through John Lewis one day......I can laugh now but back then..... !!!

BirdyArms · 19/11/2008 21:58

You should tell him and if at all possible try to think of something that he could exchange it for. He's going to feel a bit fed up if he's got to start from scratch.

nickytwotimes · 20/11/2008 10:40

Lol at the tmentioning something once and getting it for a gift!
Spot on.
She does like Friends but not THAT much.

I am trying to think of alternative suggestions...

Tell him. Once, apparently, mil went out with "the girls" from work and played darts, said she had a good time, and guess what pil bought her for Christmas?

Yep, a dart board!

Tortington · 20/11/2008 10:51

jewellery. i alsways tell dh - jewellery.

(apart from this year)

nickytwotimes · 20/11/2008 11:01

Hmm. Jugglery is usually good, but she's not really a jugglery wearer.

Bless him thoguh. He thinks he's done so well.

Dh is making me tell him tonight.

You should initiate the conversation by discussing what he wouldn't like and what he would want you to do were there to be a present hidden in your house by Mrs A that you knew he really didn't want and lead gently round to the issue.

Doesn't he know that Friends is on endless series repeat on E4? 2 episodes every night forever.

CharleeInChains · 20/11/2008 11:08

I really want the friends box set of dvd's!

It would save me space as at the moment i have 60 friends videos on my entertainment shelf!

But yes i hope you told him so he has plenty of tme to take it back and get something else.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 20/11/2008 12:52

As it would have been so expensive, definitely tell him.

I think most people would be pleased to be told.

Maybe your dh will buy them from him to give to you. Best tell him if you don't want him too

flatmouse · 20/11/2008 12:55

Complete Friends on DVD has been going cheap somewhere lately - saw it on HotUKDeals or whatever the website is called.
