How do you make the dried sliced oranges for decorations which cost a fortune in the shops?

I have tried twice before.

Cut thin slices, put on greaseproof paper and into the over. Now, this is where i go wrong sometimes they burn and sometimes they go aquidgy and end up rotting around the house!

It must be the time they are in the oven and the temperature where i am going wrong. Any help would be brill, thanks

Hi I've got tons made including lemons limes oranges and all whole fruits too as we speak i have about another 40 oranges on the kitchen worktop to do , easiest way for me is i slice them dab them with a dry kitchen towel then put them on a cooling rack and leave in the airing cupboard for about 24-36 hours or longer if you can and they are perfect hope that helps!!!!!

oh really, so no need for the oven at all? That sounds so much easier. Where do you put them all when you are done, I mean how do you decorate the house with them? I have some cinnamon sticks and need inspiration for those too.

I baked mine in the oven after slicing them....cannot for remember what temp but think it was v low - GM 1 or 2. I made them 6 years ago and they are still looking lovely . I threaded ribbon through and hang them on the tree.
