What's your experience of being able to buy very popular toys for Christmas when they are sold out everywhere?

I'm not sure what to do.... I want to get DS a toy that is sold out absolutely everywhere (just realised it's so popular since I went to buy it). There are some on Ebay but I'd end up paying £16 more than RRP and it's already £50.

I am checking websites every day but in your experience, what's the likelihood of being able to get a 'must have' toy this late before Xmas?

Should I wait to see if they get back in stock or just get the ebay one?

Since offering, I've thought of a million things I need from town so I'd be happy to go and try to get it for you. I'll have a look at their website to see where it is.

Just looked at their site to find out where the shop is and they're out of stock now too. Sorry

i will try for you and let you know,

as far as wondering who is honest the best thing i could do is if i get it , send a picture to you or list it on ebay for u and it means ur covered

i looked in my smyths local one and 2 other stores and it was sold out also

will let u know if i can find it anywhere

Thanks for your offer anyway Mog, so very kind! Hunnybun thanks for being on the lookout too.

Flipflopper, I know it's your opinion but my opinion is that it looks fab! I've seen other ride ons but I thought DS would like this one as he will be able to use it as a walker and also climb onto the ride bit himself when he is older. Plus there are activities and things to learn on it too- and sounds and lights are always a bonus for DS!

Thanks everyone but it's the Vtech one I'm after! I emailed them direct last night to see if I could purchase direct from them and I'm waiting to hear back. Will let you know!

Oh happy days!

I have been intermittently checking various websites for the train toy and Boots got them back in stock today!!! So I managed to order one online today (very sneakily at work) along with presents for DS's cousins as it was a 3 for 2 offer, so saved £20 on presents PLUS I got £12 worth of advantage points!

Result!

Thanks to everyone who has posted on here and esp to the folks who very kindly offered to try and get one for me
