As a bid to cut down on the amount of presents we give and receive, best friend and I have agreed to give a "family" present, costing no more than a tenner. I'm now stumped though, as to what to get. I'd planned to get a board game and some popcorn and stuff but all the decent board games seem so expensive.

Does anybody know of a good quiz game or music game or something (or even quiz book) that I could get from maybe Amazon or M&S or somewhere, for less than £10?

Her children are 15, 13 and 10.

An alternative would be a dvd rec, although I've not really any idea what they've seen/got.

Tia

Cinema vouchers and a bag of popcorn to wrap up.

Tri-dominos

Really frustrating excellent game

Not expensive either so pop in a carton of hot chocolate for those january nights playing the game

Cinema vouchers are a great idea.

I ordered two of these on Wednesday. They came this morning and I love them-- think they're brilliant as a family gift, and am seriously tempted to keep one myself! I absolutely have to know if I'm as tall as Elvis or A London Black Cab....

I went to buy cinemas voucher - not great as the price to get into the cinema is £6, yet the vouchers come in £5 dinominations only that was at a large chain appollo I think.

Thing is if they have lots of board games they like that type of thing so you could be onto a winner.

orlando - what height does it go up to? I need one that is over 2 meters

seeker · 20/11/2008 13:50

I've bought a BRILLIANT family present for my db and his lot - but it's £35 any you have to live in Kent/Sussex, to that's no good.

How about Uno? We keep coming back to it after buying lots of other games. Uno, and the biggest bar of chocolate you can find. That'll come to about a tenner.

Orlando · 20/11/2008 13:57

44-- it only goes up to 190cm I'm afraid. It says 'Taller than this you are a giant (approx 3% of population)

I can tell you that King Henry VIII was 189cm though...

We have a game bought from the internet called 'Are you a werewolf?'. It costs a couple of quid and can be played in groups at family gatherings etc. The kids that come here all BEG to play it. It's not flashy and doesn't look much but boy do they have fun!!

janeite · 20/11/2008 17:32

Thans all. More fantastic ideas here. Tri-ominoes looks a go-er and I need to do an Amazon order anyway, so it's nice and easy.

Are You A Werewolf sounds good - do you have a link?

Trizelda · 23/11/2008 15:20

Are you a Werewolf.....try Ebay or Looneylab (looneylabs??).com
Costs $4 and shipping about $6.

ChasingSquirrels · 23/11/2008 15:22

perudo is a fun dice game, think it is about £15

mabanana · 23/11/2008 15:26

This is great - like scrabble but without the board and you don't have to take turns so faster bananagrams

It's £12 but includes p&p

janeite · 23/11/2008 15:35

Thanks all. I got some quiz games from M&S, some Green and Blacks hot choc and a huge bag of marshmallows; all for £10 so I've stuck to budget!
