DS is 4, obsessed with numbers, counting, clocks, knowing what time it is etc. I am thinking he is old enough for a watch of his own - what does everyone else think?

i have got a flic flac one for dd for xmas she is 3.5. sounds like your ds would be ready for a watch, even if he cant really use it yet he can get used to wearing it/what it looks like

We bought dd1 a watch last year (she was almost 4) but it was a bit bulky for her tiny arm. Could you buy him a clock for his bedroom with big numbers on.

dd1 had a fifi digital watch last year, she was 2.9, she loves it to bits, wears it all the time. of course she cant tell the time yet but she knows what all the numbers are. its good practice for recognising numbers from an early age even if they cant use it for its proper purpose.

ds and dd were both in Y1, so 5, and nearly 5.

DD got a flik flak too, but she has hardly worn it

3.1 and it has done wonders he can understand now that there is morning and afternnon and i show him certain times we have to do things and then he has to remind me and show me when we have to do it and 8 times out of ten he does
i think as someone else said it gets them used to feeling one and gradually intriduces learning to tell the time. oh and it is an analogue one with trains on they were on bogof at tjhughes

needmorecoffee · 16/11/2008 13:44

ummm, not done it yet they are 16, 15, 13 and 4

solidgoldbrass · 16/11/2008 14:40

Right, I think he will get one for Xmas, will have a look round. (Always glad to think of something to buy for him - he has lots of stuff already and I have my mother going 'What would he like for a big present?)

markets usually have a watch stand and do cheap watches. Perect for a toddler to lose

The Flic Flak ones are nice; dd1 had a lovely "time trainer" one, at about 4, which had the 10, 15 minutes etc marked on it.
