I am inviting my MIL (87) and BIL (57 - I think) for Christmas dinner. He is not married, poor lamb, she always cooks his Sunday dinner, does his washing etc. He never makes any effort to get tp know his 5 y.o. niece.
I love my MIL to bits and only invite them because I cannot bear a thought of her sitting alone on Christmas daywaiting for my BIL to come from oub at 2.45 pm to get his dinner.
My DH does not go along with his brother too well... They just both politely ignore each other at best times. DH does not want to go to his Mum's as he does not like her cooking.
Anyway. Sorry for babbling - had a glass or two.
How on Earth do I entertain them? I will do dinner at 3 pm-ish. MIL will be happy to come early and peel the sprouts. But what do to with BIL?

Stick him in front of the TV with a bottle of scotch and you'll hear nothing from him.

Can he play a game or 2 with your dd? Give him a crossword book? A nintendo DS?

We can do Scrabble and I will try not to win (last time his top score word was 'moo').
He cannot play with kids, one of those blokes.
Thanks for scotch advice - I do not buy the stuff usually - what will be the cheapest non offending?

Oh. Ummm. I'm a southern comfort girl myself. Bells is normally good. It's reasonably priced.

Thanks Phantom
