Christmas stockings or not.....

DT's aged 13 are well aware that there is no FC, youngest ds (almost 10) is also aware. When do you stop, or do you stop, doing stockings. I'm getting a bit tired of buying stocking stuff which is by necessity cheap and either discarded or doesn't last because it's cheap! Any suggestions on what to put in stockings, or suitable small presents instead of... All boys by the way.
Thanks

Never. Sorry - but you're stuck with the job for life. My mum is 86 and housebound, and I have got a list of stuff she wants me to buy for my 63 year old brother's stocking. And I am guessing he has a similar list for mine!

I am 26 and still get a stocking from my Mum. My 29yo sister and 21yo brother do too!

Have a look on www.hawkin.co.uk they do some good things.

Oh no, that's not the answer I was looking for! My stocking stopped when I was about 10 and we had small presents from the animals instead which was a good way of doing it, ah well suggestions as to what to put in then would be good!

we always do stockings and smile and thank Father Christmas for the pressies.

For us it is a treat to start Christmas Day with a few pressies before breakfast with a cuppa tea. We don't have pressies until after church so it is nice to do.

Never

but stop putting tat in them

give socks, toothbrushes, treat foods (not just sweets- choc spread, variety pack cereals, dh gets exotic spices, FIL likes Gentleman's Relish), pens/pencils, other stationery, toiletries etc

I think it depends whether the DS' still look forward to having stockings. You could still do them, but with fewer items that are more useful, suggest sport socks, popcorn, belt, pack of mini biscuits i.e. jaffa cakes, mug, sachets of instant hot choc (49p for 2), toiletries, chunky kitkat. For the youngest you could add a small lego model or whatever he's into. the daftest stocking filler I ever bought was a mobile phone sleeping bag (yes really!) but it got a laugh.

If the concensus is they don't mind not having them any more, you could do a "Christmas tree present" each to open on Christmas eve, and as someone else suggested, presents from pets.

DH and I do stockings for each other, as we have no siblings and all our parents are dead, so have a bit more to open that way.

My DD's are 21,18 and 16. I still do stockings for them and Dh and I do one for each other.
My 19 year old nephew still has a stocking.
As Dd1 is geting married in March it will be the last time I do a stocking for her, Feel a bit sad about that as I actually love doing stockings.
