Ikea does lovely baskets, they would be perfect for hampers.

what about these from tesco?

or these if you wanted lids

Do you have an Instore or an Inexcess near you? they do quite nice, cheap baskets

OR

How about seeing if you can get a wine box from an offie? We managed to get some from Costco once, and they are attractive on the outside, and very sturdy.

paow · 12/11/2008 11:48

Those tesco ones are brilliant!
Also have a look in ethnic shops near you, or a local market.

Have you tried local charity shops? I work in one a couple of times a week and we are always keen to get rid of baskets etc cos they take up so much room on shop floor. If not on display ask, they may have some through the back.

au naturale, if they still exist. On the subject of charity shops, buy any framed pictures and get the kids to smesr paint, fingerprint, draw whatever and frame it. Great pressie for grandparents or even dad.My husband loved his for his birthday, costs about £3 !

gotobednow · 19/11/2008 01:50

Also, youve still got time for some decent pickles for a hamper, google it. Put those recycled jars to good use.

sophy · 19/11/2008 17:24

I'm doing this.

I'm using old shoeboxes covered in pretty paper as my hampers, to be really green.

bobbyboboo · 19/11/2008 18:02

Ive just bought some from the pound shop, they are small baskets but have a lining in them.

mowbraygirl · 19/11/2008 21:40

I have just bought 2 nice ones from Wilkinson's £2.99 each, or rather my dear DH got them. Couldn't get them locally as out of stock same on their website so he went on the train to next bigest town and got the last two they had. In the past have bought them in Poundland but don't seem to have them this year.

stealthsquiggle · 19/11/2008 21:49

Oh wow - how cute are these?

I could use them for my gift cakes for teachers (and others?)

sooooo tempted. Free delivery on orders over £20, as well.
