Today I decided to get the last of DS xmas presents, I've spent £30 on him but got a few things.

Last year I spent over £100 on him but I know that was totally rediculous so am cutting down DP thinks I have enough but I'm not sure I don't want to/can't spend any more. I feel terrible as when I wrapped up his gifts earlier (boredom) it looks bugger all!

Please tell me I'm being rediculous and totally mad because he won't even know/care or play with most of it.

Not at all stingy. I hvave spent 99p on my 20 mth old, and he will have about four presents from us. It's the quality not the quantity! If we will enjoy what you have got him, then you have no worries. Don't feel pressured to spend what you think you "ought" to.

Not at all stingy.
It is utterly pointless spemding a fortune on your child just for the sake of it.
I am frequently agog at what some peopl espend on their very young kids.

LadyOfRObamaffle · 07/11/2008 22:00

Don't feel bad! I am planning to make the DSs some bits and bobs this year - like pictures of shapes etc. laminated, and soaps etc.

Chrysanthamum · 07/11/2008 22:56

Not stingy at all. I despair at the amount of pressies some of my son's (6yr olds) pals mums have bought already for Christmas. Its nuts and hard not to get swept up in it all. Now halloween has turned in to another spend fest. I ended up feeling guilty cos all these kids turned up in fab homemade, witty costumes which took ages to make and looked expensive. I don't know why fun occasions are becoming so pressurised for kids and parents.

PortAndLemon · 07/11/2008 23:13

That sounds fine. Is there going to be a stocking as well or have you managed everything for £30?

mamadiva · 07/11/2008 23:19

Winnie the pooh bath basketball £7.50
Rescue Vehicle set £8
Road play mat £5

Not great but he only really likes cars TBH I am going to get him some little airtight tubs and make some playdough as hate the smell of shop stuff and maybe a colouring book and crayons oh and a monkey and elephant soft toy from woolies worth it things so thats an extra fiver for that.

Doenst actually look so bad when I put it down like that.

You could always do the melted crayons that are on the arts and crafts board if you have the time etc.

mamadiva · 07/11/2008 23:51

Thanks Twims I love the look of those crayons! Just need to make them a bit bigger to avoid any eating incidents

I did them in mini muffin tray (see profile) and think they've come out a good size for a toddler - speaking as a nursery nurse of 1-2 year olds

mamadiva · 08/11/2008 00:15

Ah cool.

Do you know this is going to sound insane but you sound exactly like someone I know in RL job wise and that and the name would actually add up...

Can I ask whereabouts are you from? Excuse me if I'm being daft have had a wee wine.
