What about mulled wine spices (ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and a few cloves; dreid orange peel if you can be bothered) tied into a piece of muslin. Attach to bottle of cheap and wa-hey! They do need to add sugar to taste though.

last year we made lavender wheat bags. Got our supples from:
browfarm and used a table cloth from woolies for the fabric as our local fabric shop had closed down. The one I made for myself is still doing well.

This year as doing green tomato chutney and apple jelly for teacher/thank you presents.
