Is it very time consuming and costly to make? I love the idea of it BUT....

My oven can overdo things sometimes
I have 2 under 2
I will be the only one eating it unless friends pop round...

I just mixed up all of my dried fruit, brandy and orange zest+juice. Smells yummy. I will be baking it on Friday.

I used this recipe last year and I'm doing it again this year. I had never made a Christmas cake before but it was easy, delicious (everyone said how nice it was) and fun to ice and decorate.

only just got back to this thread..COV, wow what a talent you have.....
The cakes are iced lovely and the pumkins . Put mine to shame..................

Right everyone, today I went to tesco and spent in excess of £30 on cake tins, bowls, ingredients etc..........even had a v helpful women giving me advice on christmas cakes as I searched for nutmeg......Oh and she asked me "are you making it at home..or at school.." . Im 29..! I know noone will sell booze (or fireworks as I found out today) to be unless I have ID But to be asked if im making the cake at school..!

So now I have all I need..............

LET THE BATTLE BEGIN .

My dried fruit is soaking up the brandy ...tomorrow I will attempt the next stage.
