Help. My ds likes to dismantle things, like radios, with a screwdriver!
He announced the other day that he doesn't have enough things to take apart so we thought we'd buy him some construction-type sets for Christmas (in the vain hope that we can keep our electrical goods in working order)?can anyone recommend any? Would be v grateful. Thanks

great idea fillyjonk, he loves stuff like that.
I have to confess that he has a book on space and whilst shouting "I need a poo" he tucks it under his arm and disappears into the loo with it!!
Where did I go wrong?

well Fox, are you sitting down? I have just fixed my laptop no less.
However, the fact that it wasn't actually broken when I started upgrading it makes it less of a success story I fear.

lol well I have a sad story. I have been trying to fix the PC all day. I disabled the virus protection while fixing something else and dh (have deleted all expletives I was about to post) logged onto a dodgy music download site which has put a trojan on the computer amongst many other things (grrrr) and have spent ALL day trying to fix it. It is v old the PC anyway and I was on the verge of replacing it anyway - had the disks for the virus protection but the virus is so bad, it has buggered up the registry so the PC no longer recognises the CD or DVD drive. It's a bad 'un. I am feeling all antsy because so far I have failed to fix it. Arrghhh.

I am impressed by the laptop fixing even with the upgrading

fox, i did that with our first computer, i wouldn't rest until i'd fixed it and i did, but with alot of help from geeks2go and windows for dummies

We're Macs all the way I'm afraid. The last time I touched a PC was a verrrry long time ago. Dh is a mac obsessive and has old Mac classics dotted about (doorstops...don't laugh).
I'm tempted to give ds one of the old macs to take apart if only to see dh's expression when he walks in

We found a big box of plastic meccano in a charity shop last year and DS 4.5 loves it - I've seen kits in John Lewis / Amazon.

He also loves Lego and can even get quite into Technics with some assistance.

He also has some Zoobs stuff.

zoobs

Fox-have you slept?
re Mac: I left it out with a screwdriver and a screw resting on top so it as more or less the first thing ds saw when he got home...note to self, choose a night when trains aren't totally screwed and it's taken over 2 hours to get home
How we laughed.

Thanks again for all the suggestions.
