When DS1 was a baby he was a teeny tiny Santa on our Xmas cards.
Last year he was a snowman.
Family and old friends who dont get to see the kids in real life very often have told us how much they loved getting the cards so want to do another one this year.

This year DS1 is just turned 3 we have DS2 as well (8 months) and I need a new idea on what they should be for our Xmas card photo....

Any ideas?

Just maybe a nice festive jumper? I love festive jumpers

i thought it was only the royal family who did this type of xmas card.

It started as a joke when DS1 was about 2 months and I took a pic of him in a Santa suit with the grumpiest look on is face I have ever seen. It was so funny we printed out cards with it on and we've just carried on doing it as all the old rellies loved it so much.

I figured if I'm going to do a xmas pic then I may as well go the whole hog and dress them up!
It does seem a bit royal family ish to do a card with the DCs on it but not dressed up iyswim

I quite like the idea of angels (as anyone who knows them, knows that they are not quite angelic lol)
Wonder if I could get boy angel outfits though?

Has to be cheap outfits too - not much cash!

This is from 2006 when i dressed my little one as an angel. It was cheap as chips!

We have also done this every year since my DD was born in 2006. But we put her/them in the same each time (reindeer ears)

Am posting this years on my profile page!

We did this for DD1's first xmas. She was 9mths and wearing a fluffy Adults santa hat that was too big and drooping down on one side, looked very cute.

Doing the same again this year for DD2's first xmas but she and her sister are together. (2.3yrs and 6mths) They are wearing red tshirts and Santa hats.

Dress them as children, just children, as themselves. Looking happy or maybe doing something having fun.

playing, splashing in puddles? riding bikes? at the playground, coming down the slide??? On the swing???

DON"T dress them as angels/puddings or whatever, you and they will cringe for ever more. And it will be on the slide show at their 18th/21st/wedding or whatever.

TechLovingDad · 16/11/2010 04:25

You could all dress as elves. Or Elvis!

TheRedSalamander · 16/11/2010 13:55

anonymousbird- thought the whole point of having children dressing your children in silly outfits is that you can look back in years to come and laugh at the ridiculousness of them and at what mean parents you must have been to make them look so silly!

I am a serial dresser-upper of my 2 ds's, each photo is in a file for their stag do's!

2.4- Do it do it do it :)

Ds1 was a shepherd a few years ago, really easy to do- the customary tea towel head garment was tacked onto sunhat with chinstrap (otherwise he would pull it off, he was

Would say though that I used the assumption that nobody is really interested in receiving a picture of my cute festive kids UNLESS they look faintly ridiculous- granparents/immediate family being the exception of course.
