nappyaddict - DS just got the recycling truck today for his birthday and there is no real assembling. I had to stick on a few stickers, put the lids on the bins and push the wheels on to the bottom of the bins. Much easier than the other stuff we got and took me 5 mins. And he loves it!

nappyaddict · 18/10/2008 19:54

how old is DS?

moshie · 18/10/2008 19:57

Tesco had some half price playmobil today, the recycling truck I think, and a boat of some sort. Sorry, wasn't taking much notice, just thought about it when I saw this thread.

nappyaddict · 18/10/2008 19:57

oh also does anyone have the treasure transporter? does it have an underwater motor like the police boat?

forkhandles · 18/10/2008 20:09

he's 3, he also was given the rescue helicopter which doesn't have too many small bits and took a little more assembling but not much...

SmileyMylee · 19/10/2008 01:04

My DD8, loves the pony stuff. My DD6 and DS3 love the playground stuff . DS 3, loves his pirates but doesn't play with the ship.

I love all of it and will play with them for hours!!

mysteryfairy · 19/10/2008 13:24

For those expressing an interest in the pyramid it is for sale in the UK. I came across it whilst browsing with DD who will be 7 in January and still wants more playmobil.

DD is not interested in this although I know both of her big brothers would have loved it - she's narrowed it down to the hospital or ponyfarm this time. (Hope she goes for the farm as it's £30 less!)

WhizzzingAroundOnABroomstick · 19/10/2008 13:35

I noticed today that there is LOADS of different Playmobil sets in Costco at the mo if anyone is a member. Can't remember all the prices, but generally they are competitive.

WhizzzingAroundOnABroomstick · 19/10/2008 13:35

ooooo sorry "There ARE LOADS of sets" - fingers went AWOL

nappyaddict · 22/10/2008 10:55

loads of sets reduced in the entertainer fantasy land is half price.

MilaMae · 22/10/2008 12:44

My 3 (ds 5,ds5 & dd nearly 4) adore the dinosaurs. The past few days they've played with it constantly. We have the volcano and the quad with a cage. They combine it with the ELC wooden dinoland. Their little friend who is a girl came this morning and I didn't hear a peep out of all 4 of them!!!!!!!!

frazzled74 · 22/10/2008 12:59

We have loads of the stuff! Ds (aged 7) plays with it a lot, and his female friends also like playing with it. Camper van and holiday/beach sets are particularly good for unisex toys.

We have the police boat and the recycling truck - neither of them requires that much assembly. The sets that need a lot of assembly are generally the buildings (house, fire station etc).

We have a lot of builders including Norman the Foreman who never does any work but drinks lots of tea.

You can see his photos on my profile (under my regular name of SoMuchToBits)

I don't know what we would do in our house without Playmobil - it's definitely ds's most played-with toy!

Playdough · 22/10/2008 16:08

For your five year old daughter, I do recommend the Fairy World sets. My daughter and her friends play with the main Fairy Garden set, which she got for her sixth birthday, for hours ... My son (4) likes the rubbish truck and is begging for the knights castle for Christmas. I have friends whose 8 and 9 year olds still play with their Playmobil, so I think it's one of those toys with a good long shelf life.

MilaMae · 22/10/2008 17:00

The hospital and ambulance is another good unisex one,my 3 had it between the 3 of them last year. Storing the beast is a pain though still haven't been brave enough to break it up yet and dd plays with it every day so haven't been allowed to anyway.

We have a few farm bits which they all play with alongside the wooden farm a lot. DD loves the chicken house and rabbit hutch, the boys love to plough and harvest

frazzled74 · 23/10/2008 10:23

love the look of the hospital is it very big?

I want to get the Playmobil Magic Castle for the dds (5 and 3). Is there a chance in hell that they will still have all the tiny little accessories all intact by New Years Day though?

MilaMae · 23/10/2008 11:12

It's a store on top of a wardrobe thing, quite wide, there are measurements on the website I think.

Be warned they will love it so you'll never be able to break it up to store

frazzled74 · 23/10/2008 11:19

perhaps could turn my dining room into a playroom .has anyone seen a bargain hospital?

OP posts:
MilaMae · 23/10/2008 11:32

We got ours for £79 at Toys R Us last year.

nappyaddict · 23/10/2008 12:00

if you do want to break them up to store are they a pita to keep putting back together again? i don't think i can be bothered with that.

MilaMae · 23/10/2008 12:01

Have never been allowed to so can't answer that. Be warned it will be a permanent fixture

SoMuchToBats · 23/10/2008 12:09

The hospital is quite big, but really good. Don't know where is selling it cheap - we got ours earlier in the year at our Co-op department store. It was already reduced to £69.99, then had a 20% off day on top of that, so was £54.99 - bargain!
