I have to send my xmas gifts at the very beginning of December so whatever I send can't go off. And has to be light so no jams or chutneys or anything.

I wanted to make Tablet but I am not sure it will be ok after 3 or 4 weeks.

What else can I make?

calendars?
peppermint cremes (dunno how long they keep)
small photo albums for relatives?
dont know really as dont have to post my hampers, they all quite local and mum takes me to deliver them in her car.

Something crafty rather than foody made by the dc's maybe?

Piccy frames
Calendars
small tree decs made from fimo (modelling clay stuff iirc)
up to date pic of dc's in a frame they decorated
something knitted or sewn

Not sure what Tablet is, can't help there sorry

thanks for the ideas

I think a photo in a frame is a nice one and perhaps decorations. Will have a think. I had my heart set on Tablet though

It's a scottish fudgey type sweet lucysmam.

Small christmas cakes - make a regular one and cut it up into small squares (think fondant fancies sized) and then ice them individually. Put two in each box - they only weigh about 200g.

Thanks wmmc, I have the fruit soaking and am planning on baking this week! I've never done little ones before so am quite excited. I need to work out what type of icing will survive airmail!

Royal icing normally survives providing you put the box in another box.

SuperBunny · 12/10/2008 23:26

Ok, royal icing it is then!

Thanks

oggsfrog · 13/10/2008 10:29

It says here that tablet can be stored in an airtight container for up to a month...

What I've been doing for the last few years is making mini massage bars - get some 100% pure shea butter and cocoa butter ([[http://www.naturallybalmy.co.uk/ Here is good). Melt gently in the microwave - half shea/half cocoa - add a few drops of essential oil if you like - peppermint is great for foot bars. Then pour into rubber ice-cube trays - can be any shape you like. They set hard but melt on contact with skin - look very professional and can be easily packaged. Another thing is too melt the shea butter then add a little sweet almond oil then whip it all in the blender and it becomes a gorgeous foamy cream which you can then out into pots etc. it is really quite fab and so easy to do.
