My dd 3,is obsessed by horses and has noticed an ad for a rocking horse which she proudly told us Santa would buy her, no idea where that came from.
We have no problem buying one, probably the Mamas and Papas one from ELC but I am slightly concerned that it will become a clothes horse and we will spend years tripping over it, what do you think as we have plenty of time to steer her off course

I love rocking horses and think a childs room is not complete without one , but in reality they are very rarely used for their original purpose.Maybe you could get her one of those furreal horses, they are fab.

DD (3.5)adores her rocking horse, which we got for nowt from freecycle - it's one of these and, whilst somewhat saggy in the arse (it's at least 3rd hand) is very much used nearly every day.

We're going to get her a bigger one for her birthday next year as she's almost outgrown him, and then Penny Pony will get freecycled again.

OTOH, my nephew and niece have a gorgeous, full-size carved wooden horse, he's now 15 (she's 10) and his parents got it for him when he was about 2 - I have NEVER seen those kids use it and it sits in the dining room gathering dust. DD makes a beeline for it every time we go round.... I want to say 'give it to meeeee!' but I daren't

GordonTheGhoul, I was well amused, thanks I think we will take the risk, no doubt next year she will want a real one!
