Trying to do Christmas on a budget this year.

Usually end up spending loads on aunts, cousins, elderly family friends, teachers, teaching assistants etc etc, getting them boxes of chocs/biscuits - usually Boots 3 of 2 though!

Anyway, am thinking of using a chocolate mould to make christmas tree shaped chocs etc and then putting in cellophane bags (1.99 for 50) and tying gold ribbon round them and presenting them from the kids.

Does this sound okay?

Haven't you got one local lucysmam?

There are quite a few around.

you could just get a roll of christmas cellophane and tie with ribbon? you can buy that on ebay or in shops

yep, sounds good to me!

tesco has red fleece throws on offer for £3.

we do lots of crafts so have fabric paints to hand but you can get them cheaply enough at Yellow Moon or HObbycraft.

so the girls are doing hand and feet prints in white and green and i'm writing 'Christmas, 2008/Love, DD1 and DD2' on them.

these are going to be the gifts for aunts, ILs and elderly family friends from the girls.

total of about £4 each.

I made tomato chutney and dark choc and orange fudge last year as we were severely broke. Gave it to close friends and family and it cost about £20 for 25ish people (some got only fudge!)
I have already had requests for it again this year...I am going to make gingerbread tree decorations as well as DD1 is old enough to "help" properly

I made gingerbread christmas trees decorated with icing - one for every child in the class last year

And chocolate tiffin type stuff for the teacher - everybody happy I saved a fortune
