hughjarss - fwiw, I told DD1 she couldnt have Bratz dolls as they were rubbish. She has totally rebelled and loves Bratz now. She doesnt have any dolls yet but she has told her grandma she likes them and I have relented and let her have a coupld of books. I made a severe error there.

a doll is lovely, we bought our DD one when she was 1. Had a bit of trouble however getting one suitable from that age. In the end, managed to get 'my first baby annabelle' which was lovely. She however managed to lose it somehow and we had trouble getting another as think they may be discontinued and the bigger ones were from age 3. MY DH however managed to get a new one on ebay. Good luck

my parents got DD a 'my first baby annabelle' last christmas - she was 10 months at the time, she loved it and still does. Mumoverseas DD lost hers too about a month ago and I managed to get another one (identical) from Argos.

My ds got a doll for his first birthday, and he loves it. He has my brother's old doll's pram as well, and loves pushing that around. Definitely don't think one is too young.

DD got this for her first christmas, she is the lovliest, softest dolly, she smells of vanilla.... I think I love her more than dd

here's another and another

Corolle dolls are the nicest you can get, I get dd a new one every christmas, they all snuggle up in bed with her every night.

After 2 boys, buying dd her first doll was a real milestone

Mammina · 07/10/2008 08:10

they're quite sweet, can you get them in the UK or do you have to order them off US ebay?

bozza · 07/10/2008 08:27

definitely get her one. And also one of those small, folding buggies. Ideal for pushing around once she is fairly steady on her feet.

macherie · 07/10/2008 11:08

I have always bougt them from us ebay, it works out fine because of exchange rate, the shipping is around $10.

They are adorable little dolls

Maybe I should start selling them?

stealthsquiggle · 07/10/2008 11:14

Another vote for the Corolle dolls - DD was given (by other people - we had no idea she wanted them ) 4 soft-bodied dolls in total for Christmas shortly after her first birthday - she was so excited and loves them all - but it is the Corolle doll which gets trailed around everywhere still (nearly a year later) and is disgustingly dirty well loved.

Lilydolls are gorgeous too - and Urchin have/had some in their sale.

Mammina · 07/10/2008 13:23

I'd like to get my daughter a cabbage patch kid but they don't seem to sell them in the UK anymore, does anyone know where I can get one?

Eniddo · 07/10/2008 13:24

the corolle dollies that effie links to are great

dd3 loves hers

Lilydoll bargain alert

From the Urchin sale, with order code OCT20, I just ordered a Lilydoll (they only have Fiona) for £8.79 + postage - and a similarly discounted outfit for her.

That's DD's Christmas present sorted
