Pokemon cards - where to buy?

Other than the elusive Needoh, my DS really wants Pokemon cards for Christmas but I can't find them anywhere and a lot of online retailers seemed to have bumped the price up somewhat.

I have tried requesting to purchase through Amazon many times and never get selected, despite my Amazon account being over 25 years old! Not sure how you get approved for that.

Anybody got any good sources?

Entertainer in Tesco extras do them, ours is once a month and the next one is this Friday. People do que outside before it opens for them, and they are limited to almost 1 pack per customer. So I'd ask the entertainer staff (normally on toy aisle) in your local Tesco superstore.

No Entertainer in my Tesco Extra but we do have an Entertainer store in town so will try asking them!

I don't even want the new ones @takemeback90! He's 6 he couldn't care less as long as they're in something he can open. Might grab some from Magic Madhouse website as I used to use that years ago.

Was in Asda today and despite it saying online I could order them with my groceries, they said they had no Pokemon cards whatsoever! All the TG Jones's stores have closed here so that's off the list!

Vinted! Lots of bundles on there, I got my six year old a good stash!

Haha this isn’t my first rodeo - my 20 year old still has all his, but they were very accessible when he was a kid!!

I just wish mine would sort them out and do something. Managed to sell a few pop vinyls on Vinted this week but there is so much stuff in the loft!
still it sounds like your younger one won’t be able to stockpile if they are now so hard to get hold of !

Its crazy.. Re-sellers ruining a perfectly innocent kids hobby.

It is weird for me, because I live outside of the U.K. and here, they are everywhere and easy to get, 100% because there are no scalpers and re-sellers. No one treats it like an investment here. And I suspect that is because the cards aren't in English so hold much less value. As a result my kid can buy them easy and cheap and collect his favorite Pokémon as intended.

I really hope eventually the bubble collapses, and the "valuable" cards become worth what any kids card should be..

@TofuTuesday No, my youngest won't be having a big haul - especially as he doesn't really want pre-loved, he wants the experience of opening the packs - that's half the fun to him!

@lxn889121 It really is frustrating. Having been through this 15 years ago, it was exactly as you've described, you could just walk in and buy them from wherever. On any day of the week.

I'd recommend getting friends/family to sign up for amazon invites too - my husband, parents, and the in laws have all requested invites and we've had a few successes this way! Delta Reign are the ones coming out next so I'd particularly recommend requesting invites for these ones as they should have stock coming in soon

Gosh my boys have suddenly got into Pokemon cards and after great parents evenings I agreed (naively) to get them a pack each as a reward..... WELL we went all over town and they were sold out everywhere!

Days later I spotted some randomly in Waitrose and grabbed a few packs. Never even thought to look in there!

I was absolutely shocked to see Amazon are invite only! I had no idea this was even a thing! Crazy!

Ask in the large card factories, they keep them under the counter and limit how many per customer.

My 21 year old still has his in Pokémon tins and Pokémon Folders. He’ll never get rid of them I don’t think.

I heard just the other day of someone who sold some old Pokémon cards for over £1m….

If he just wants packets to open there are loads on shein. Whether they genuine or not is another matter but as he is only 6 does it matter.

Asda tend to keep them behind the customer service desk not the cigarette kiosk (depending on your store layout) and you have to ask for them. I’ve hit lucky in my local one a few times, get lucky in Asda living stores a lot as well who keep them behind the tills.

onestop get stock in from their magazine suppliers, so check what days your store gets a delivery (will be the same days every week) although the store staff don’t know what they will receive with each delivery. They don’t have a limit on how many you can purchase. I just got 7 packs of the 30th anniversary ones last week, put away for Christmas gifts for couple of nephews and son.

Also check with smaller petrol stations as my sister in law got a pack from her local Morrisons garage last week.
