Husband gift ideas

onpills4godsake · 01/11/2026 09:18

My husband just buys what he wants - has quite a bit of disposable income
so it makes him really hard to buy for- would love some ideas.
his hobbies are mountain biking, gym and camping.
he isn’t into clothes but need some nice tops as he will rewear the same outfit until it dies, as he isn’t into labels etc

thought we could all share some
inspiration ?

Something related to his hobbies? DH and decided to have stop Christmas gifts and plan a night or weekend away instead. We both have what we need and it is really nice to have something to look forward to after Christmas.

Watching with interest
men are much harder to buy for

I’ve got a mix of things for my partner

the usual pyjamas, boxers, socks,
new slippers

I’m collecting things for a treat box so I’ve got fancy nuts, crisps, chocolates, hot chocolate, sauces like fancy ketchup etc… some curry kits and nice things like that.

but as for a “main” gift - I’m not sure really.

EmmaStone · 01/11/2026 10:15

I read a few years back that men like gifts of things they have already but nicer - so they might have gym kit, but if you bought some premium brand gym kit (eg Lululemon), that would be appreciated. Or a jumper they’ve got, but cashmere.

Another idea is tickets for an event or a weekend away type of thing?

There are at least 3 other 'men/DH' threads at the moment, so I shall try to link. There is link within this thread, to one of the other threads.

My partner and I - and previous partner - just give the other a list of things we'd quite like for Christmas to the other at the beginning of November.

It's generally a mix of things from books and CDs to a shirt/blouse/jumper (usually specific ones we've seen) and then some form of activity (opera/theatre tickets) or magazine subscription (to enjoy all year).

Then we only get things we know each other actually want, rather than guessing and end up getting it wrong or wasting money. By the time Christmas Day arrives we've usually forgotten at least half of what we put on our lists so there's still a sort of surprise element.

As we have no kids and very little family, this means there's a good few packages under the tree to look good and spend time unwrapping after a big lunch.

11plusherewego · 01/11/2026 13:12

Tickets to an event - have done music, comedy and sport before. Or lectures/exhibitions that suit his geeky tendencies.
Nice PJs
Cashmere sweater
Cookery books
Interesting ingredients or nice jams, chutney’s, mustards.
Kitchen equipment (have done fancy sandwich toaster, velvetiser, nespresso machine, thermomix over the years).
Favourite fancy chocolates
Whiskey

greenmacchiato · 02/11/2026 06:38

Something related to his hobbies (a gift card to a store he buys equipment from?) or upgraded versions of what he has could be good ideas. If there are products he uses frequently and you see these might come to an end soon, you can get him more of that before it actually does.
His favorite snacks or, better yet, rare treats could be a nice gift as well, there are subscription boxes for snacks, beverage, etc.
You can also plan something together, like a dinner out or a professional photo shoot, there are themed options around Christmas where you can book a studio with a nice Christmas tree, a fireplace, etc, if he's into that sort of thing. Could be a small getaway to a nearby city or a short trip somewhere nice where you take photos and have them printed or made into a slideshow later. A simpler option would be tickets to events he would be interested in attending. Are there any upcoming gigs he would enjoy? Or the ones you could go see together maybe?

Mountain biking - Body / face armour. Muc Off Bike cleaning kit / Gift voucher for a bike park.

Gym - Gift voucher for a sports massage. New gym bag. Fancy shower gels.

Camping - Silk sleeping bag liner / If he does wildcamping maybe a fire maple camping stove or some sort of fancy bivvy bag. If it's campsite camping with a large tent then maybe a fancy stove / grill / fridge etc.

I’ve gone right off piste for my dh this year. I’ve bought him a Molten Brown unisex scent shower gel and Eau de toilette, and a lovely sweatshirt/jumper (hard to explain but it’s a mixture of both), from Reiss. Neither of these are things he would ever consider buying or asking for, but I actually think he will like them. Also planning on getting him some waterproof walking trousers.

SausageLabLady · 03/11/2026 16:07

I bought my DP a Swiss Army knife. He loved it and used it all the time but he’s lost it so I’m buying him a new fancier one this year.

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 03/11/2026 20:50

If you’re buying for hobbies, buy quality.
Quality brand merino wool thermals, such as Icebreaker.
Rechargeable pocket pump for tyres.
Waterproof socks or heated socks, heated gloves.
I have Oakley Photochromic cycling glasses which have had many comments from others, can’t recommend them enough and wear them all the time.

A weekend mountain biking at glentress, Scotland
(during better weather season - May/June)

Rosesandcrysanthamums · 04/11/2026 00:03

Vango make a very small folding camp stove which is brilliant for boiling water for a cuppa very quickly when camping.

I think this is the one I bought for hubby, though it was a lot cheaper 6 years ago!

https://www.vango.co.uk/folding-gas-stove

And have a look at Alpkit's aluminium mugs / pots - very lightweight and strong, and perfect for putting on the tiny stove linked above. Not cheap, but high quality gear. Everything I've had from Alpkit has been excellent

Or as another poster has mentioned above, a Swiss Army knife could be a good present. My dad bought my hubby a Leatherman branded one which went down very well. It's high quality and he's had it twenty years and still uses it loads.

A 'forge,' experience. Make your own axe, knife etc.

onpills4godsake · 04/11/2026 17:25

Forage experience sounds very good

cashmere jumper also

he has a lot of disposable income
so has all the top end hobby gear (which I could not afford to buy him)

thanks for the ideas though- the camping kit ideas- we have a tent box tent on a van and all the mod cons etc - I’ve found some solar good lights which seem good as a stocking filler too.

i may get him some nice fitted T-shirts also - and a jumper, thanks again

have you any links for the foraging experience

It's not quite foraging, but if you think
your husband might enjoy bushcraft, I can highly recommend Howl Bushcraft. I have done a couple of courses with them and
Jamie who owns the company and runs the courses is a very knowledgeable, gentle
guy and a great teacher. He has some very cool bushcraft gear in his online shop too if that might be of interest.

😁

Following with interest because I’m fed up of buying things that I think ‘D’H will like and then he doesn’t use them.

PlacesAndPrints · Yesterday 13:55

For someone who already has all the gear, a framed print of a place that means something to him can work well. His favourite trail centre, the campsite you always go back to, or an old map of where he grew up. It's one of the few things he won't have bought himself.

For the bikes, a skills coaching day or a guided ride somewhere new (Glentress, Coed y Brenin, Afan) usually goes down well, even with experienced riders.

Completely random, but DH made me a song on foreversongs.com for my birthday! It’s full of memories and says all the things he loves about me. It may not be your thing, but I loved it!
