When to start Christmas music in my gift shop?

[topcat2014]

We run a gift shop/gallery - just coming up to our third Christmas.

When is sensible to start with Christmas music?

I mean - obviously not October although I see John Lewis has trees in the window

1st November if you want to actually make money at literally the biggest spending season of the year

December if you want to please all the people who don’t run retail for living (like me)

You’re a small business owner, I’m assuming you’re doing it to live so play the music

1st November! Let the Halloween lovers have their moment of happiness then it's full-on festive season! 🎄

(Last year one of the supermarkets stopped playing Christmas music at the start of December as they'd put out their 'New Year New Home' stock).

Do you have a licence to do this

1st December is perfectly early enough.

1st Dec

Sorry, but Christmas music goes on from Dec 1st in our house 😆. Any earlier is insane.

End of November. I have previously worked in retail ans christmas music was on from mid November and it is like a slow form of Chinese torture for the workers having the same 2 cds on repeat! Maybe try and have a good selection so you dont drive yourself potty!!

What day do the Christmas lights go on where you are? That feels like a good day.

PPL PRS

1st December please.

Maybe wait until after Remembrance Sunday if you are set on November though.

Midday December 24th

3.30pm if this includes Noddy Holder screeching It’s Christmas!

Another great option!
