Easy Christmas evening alternative to cheese board

We have Christmas Dinner about 3pm with the pudding about 5, so we don’t need a full on meal/buffet in the evening. We always have a cheeseboard with various trimmings as it’s easy and everyone can eat as much or as little as they like. Anyone who wants one can make a turkey sandwich. Crisps, fruit, cake, chocolate openly available. This works well and I’m sure if I suggested a change there would be uproar. However I would like to consider alternative ideas that are simple, light, little prep, help yourself type things? Adult guests only.

I thought everyone just had dinner round 2! Turkey, leftover roasties, gravy, some hot bread rolls. It's arguably more enjoyable than the first round for me haha.

I've never in my life eaten christmas dinner before 6pm!

We have Christmas lunch at our usual lunchtime of about 1pm. Then in the evening we have what we consider to be the best part, cold cuts, with what is known as Christmas coleslaw!

Oh what is Christmas coleslaw?

I love ‘interesting combos on sticks’ but too much of a faff for Christmas Evening. They will make an appearance on NYE however!

We love this pie from waitrose for Christmas night tea, with salady bits, pickles, crisps etc

I always cook a gammon on Xmas Eve plus a turkey crown and a beef on Xmas day so I always offer a sandwich, or a toasted sandwich with turkey, cranberry and brie being my favourite and always going down well. We put in our orders of what we want in toasted sandwich and adult DS always takes charge of making them in panini press so he can make 2 at a time. I also always have a cheeseboard and like a bit of gorganzola with crackers. Other things that go down well in my house are chicken goujons, breaded brie bites, pigs in blankets, all of which I just pop into the air fryer. I've tried putting out salads but no one seems to eat them on Xmas night so I serve those on Boxing day with cold cuts of meat and somehow they go down better then. There is always left over desserts because I get a selection of lemon cheesecake, Eton Mess with extra raspberries and a serving of soft whippy ice cream and DH makes his tiramisu on Xmas Eve so usually a bit of that left too if anyone wants it.

Not sure if it’s the same as the pp’s but I make what I call Christmas coleslaw. Shredded red and white cabbage, chopped apple, pomegranate seeds, sultanas or chopped dates, walnuts or pecans. Dressing made from mayonnaise and cider vinegar. It’s lovely on Boxing Day with the roast ham.
