Like a book but not actually a book.

I am doing Christmas stockings for my 3 kids, who are all at university. I plan to do socks, pants, pyjamas, chocolate coins, tube of sweets and a book.
Only trouble is 1 of them is dyslexic and really dislikes reading.
Any bright ideas to substitute something that’s like a book, but not actually a book?

An art or photography book on a subject they love? Or a wordless graphic novel, like The Arrival by Shaun Tan?

I love a Audible subscription as a dyslexic

Notebook. My dyslexic child loves drawing and writing

Would it work for you if they all got something different from a book in the stocking? The no one is jealous? Got yourself a few Christmas books from the library instead, they will probably have books for dyslexic children and lots of picture heavy non fiction books about football/art/sharks or whatever your child is into.
How old is your dyslexic child?
If you want to try a book I recommend Barrington Stoke dyslexia friendly books for a slightly older child ready to try non picture books, the paper is yellow, the font is easy to read, they are short and written to suit dyslexic children. I also find Tom Gates, The 13 Storey Treehouse series and graphic novels go down really well, lots of pictures in these books help them fun.
As others have suggested audio books can be good, but some dyslexics struggle with auditory processing.

How about a puzzle or a puzzle books? My child who is dyslexic is extremely good at pattern recognition and liked Where's Wally or a puzzle book that has mazes etc. They particularly liked 3d puzzles we had a light maze game where you moved mirrors to make shapes for example. Another 3D puzzle
This website has lots of good recommendations for dyslexic children. The dyslexia shop
Hope that helps.

Some kind of search and find book (like wheres wally) - there's all sorts of interest based and even customisable ones. Always a big hit in this house, bought for a 7 year old but the adults always spend more time looking at them 😆

The other thing that goes down well in this house (mainly with my husband!) are things like Guinness world records type books. Yes reading, but not a lengthy novel, and a shared interest/talking point.

Or depending on career, studies etc an adult colouring book. Again lots of interest/occupation based ones. The sweary affirmations went down very well with my secret santa recipient last year (the CEO of the company!)

Maybe steer clear of books if everything has to be matching?

I have one child that loved books and one who is dyslexic, so I do sympathise!

Adult colouring book?

Beautiful adult stick book such as John Derian https://amzn.eu/d/0g7VseXX

Does she have a favourite food or style of cuisine? A cookbook about that (more personal than just any old cookbook).

Yeah, don’t single them out. Get them all a different thing. One book, one craft kit, one puzzle book, or whatever.

If they like video games, there are some amazing art books made about popular games.

They show the original concept art for the setting and characters and show off the game progressing through development. They are quite interesting, I have a few for some of my faves.

Depending on the dyslexia profile it might not work. DD and I scored lowest in visual processing and can never see these!

Omg now I understand why I couldn't ever see them!

What a bonkers question. Maybe get them something different, not at all like a book, that they will actually like?!
