Family game a 3 year old can play

Someone at work mentioned that they have a tradition that I really like the sound of and as a family with a soon to be 3 year old and 1 year old I am looking for some traditions we can start as a family.

Their tradition is that the elf brings them a family game to play on Christmas Eve. They do all the usual getting bathed and in to pjs etc then play the game and eat festive snacks before the usual getting santas cookies or mince pies etc ready.

I know 3 is quite young but does anybody have any suggestions for games that may work in this situations for his age please?

Also any other cute traditions ideas are welcomed.

Thanks in advance :-)

zingo (basically picture bingo with a fun way of dispensing the cards) is very popular with my 2 and 3 year old and is somehow more exciting than shopping list game (which we also like). Orchard Toys have Elf lotto which is similar concept and brings in a Christmas theme.

Try fun food bingo!

I have 3 year old grandsons and the shopping game is great. I did try snakes and ladders and they enjoyed it but because it went from 1-100 squares was a bit much for them so Ive just bought the orchard snakes and ladders which looks much more appropriate, I've also just bought 3 little pigs from Orchard this weekend which is 2-4 player game which again looks good. I have Ker- plunk, I'd avoid that as too time consuming putting all the straws in!!

We started this last year with pop up pirate was a hit with our then 2.5 year old!

My favourite tradition is a book advent calendar I reuse some of the Xmas books and pick others up in charity shops throughout the year and wrap them up and number them! I am a massive bookworm though so might not be everyone’s idea of fun!

Orchard definitely. I have a 4 and 2 year old and my eldest has been playing orchard games since 2.
my 2yo can now manage under the sea dominos.
smelly wellies, lucky ducky (though I’d say that’s 4+ cause it’s deciding if a number Is higher or lower).
I actually got mine the orchard Christmas box last year with game, puzzle and colouring book. www.toystreet.co.uk/product/christmas-eve-box-2023/?utm_source=RAd&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=ShopForward+CSS&utm_keyword=nz_xpRlxjVA-JDLmgEhHBSUUxHy1Oh4Xmw&ranMID=53403&ranEAID=nz%2FxpRlxjVA&ranSiteID=nz_xpRlxjVA-JDLmgEhHBSUUxHy1Oh4Xmw

Zingo, we played this with my 3yo and 5yo yesterday. I was so impressed with the 3yos memory and recognition skills 👍🏻 highly recommend

Look at orchard games - charity shops and local sales often have them second hand too. Pop to the shops was a favourite of my kids if it’s still available, bought when they were 5&3

Snap, old maid.

My DCs loved a game called Snail's Pace Race at that age.

You could also try a home made game like hot potato.
