I’m looking for some ideas for my family as I’m a bit stuck this year. I have quite a few people to buy for and would love some inspiration.

Boy age 11 – loves LEGO, video games and Roblox.
Girl age 10 – loves Stitch, Squishmallows, anything cute, and has recently started getting into reading.
Boy age 8 – loves animals, video games and Disney. I also need a birthday present for him as his birthday is in December.
Boy age 19 – loves football and has just got his first car, so something car-related could be good.
Boy age 17 – loves football.
Uncle age 50 – loves football and fishing.
Dad age 58 – works a lot, is a fan of his job, and travels quite a lot. I also need a birthday present for him as his birthday is in December.
Grandfather age 77 – has been unwell so has stopped doing many of his hobbies, but he used to love gardening. I also need a birthday present for him as his birthday is in December.
I also have 5 nieces and nephews (1 girl and 4 boys, around age 7) who I need little gifts for, ideally around the £5 mark each.

I’m open to any ideas, practical gifts, experiences, little thoughtful presents, anything really. I’m trying to find things that feel personal rather than just buying random stuff.
Thank you 😊

Boy age 11 – DeLorean LEGO (from back to the future, £16.99 on Amazon), hot chocolate mug set, stationery

Girl age 10 – jellycat, Jacqueline Wilson / Judy Blume books, stationery, Daise body mist

Boy age 19 – vintage football shirt of his fave team, look on his fave team’s website shop for accessories/hoodies/woolly hat etc., Swiss Army knife, multi charger cable station, money!

Boy age 17 – as above, cinema voucher,

Uncle age 50 – football scarf/wooly hat, vouchers for a fishing shop, favourite tipple, fancy chocolates, dry robe

Dad age 58 – good quality water bottle (Frank Green), insulated travel mug, nice luggage tags, leather wash bag, nice travel sized toiletries, multi country charger/adapter plug thing, noise cancelling headphones

Grandfather age 77 - indoor plant, favourite tipple/biscuits etc (nicer than he’d usually buy for himself), hamper of treats, heated blanket, luxury bath towel

I also have 5 nieces and nephews (1 girl and 4 boys, around age 7) who I need little gifts for, ideally around the £5 mark each. - cinema voucher each with a bag of popcorn/sweets attached, gloves, colouring pencils and pads, books

This is brilliant!

Boy age 11 – love the LEGO but he doesn't like back to the future, something in the £10-15 range

Girl age 10 – love the book idea!

Boy age 8 – he's currently obsessed with the Mandalorian and star wars so something linked

Boy age 19 – bought the football shirt last year, so no clue maybe something for inside the car?

Boy age 17 – same previously bought

Uncle age 50 – previously bought all

Dad age 58 – love the water bottle / travel mug and nice luggage tags, already got travel sized toiletries

Grandfather age 77 - love the indoor plant, and bought bath towel

5 nieces and nephews (1 girl and 4 boys, around age 7) - I think the colouring pencils and pads, books is great

Boy 11 - there are a variety of sports cars in that price range, or possibly something like the shark set might suit?

Girl 10 - maybe posca pens?

Boy 8 - there are Lego Mandalorian sets, and my DC liked the "where's grogu?" Where's Wally type book which is only a few pounds.

Dad - what about a new wash bag for when he's travelling? There are some lovely leather initialled ones if he'd like that. Or a Grid-It is really useful.

Niece/nephews - galt sparkle jewellery or bubble science sets, or maybe a game like Found It. If you have a couple in the same family a stomp rocket might make a nice joint gift.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 06/08/2026 21:15

There’s a really good website called Wicked Uncle they have some fab ideas on there

This is so helpful! I love hearing other people’s ideas, especially when they are linked to bargains.

i will look into the Mandalorian Lego

For the boys who like football: Subbuteo, football edition of Guinness World Records, their football team’s duvet + pillowcase set, their football team’s version of Monopoly, a footballer’s autobiography, Japanese snack box

For the 8yo boy: Eugy animal model, animal feeding experience, Nat Geo kids magazine subscription

For the 10yo girl: Needoh, Fahlo animal tracking bracelet, PeachyBbies slime, Miniverse, Legami pens, polymer clay kit

I’d go for a moon ball for the nieces and nephews, suitable for them all and can get all different colours. Kids get loads of colouring stuff and most of the boys I know just aren’t interested.

I was about to suggest them. They gift wrap for you too (extra small cost) and have suggested a few gifts for different ages.

Lambszaraote · 07/08/2026 16:07

I have an eight year old boy and have already bought him a Fahlo bracelet to track a shark. Bath bombs also a great shout!

Moonnstarz · 07/08/2026 17:11

Boy 11 - Lego Minecraft

Girl 10 - squishmallow blanket (Argos or the range), squishmallow gem art (Hobbycraft or the range), cute gem art in general (the works) cosy colouring book and nice pens, Lottie brooks book

Not sure on your budgets for each person. As for the animal lover you could get an animal experience or adoption but that might be too much?

Moonnstarz · 07/08/2026 17:13

Nieces and nephews - galt kits - lots of different science sets or craft sets. Look out for offers on these as they sometimes pop up on Amazon or even in the Lidl special buys. Also check out the works, nearer Xmas they do things like 3 for £12 on various sets so could pick each up something from that

The previous poster has reminded me of a bargain from the prequel Christmas thread. It’s a Galt science set from the Yorkshire trading company down to £5.99 from £19.99. The box is enormous so will look great wrapped up. Also in the cupboard for my 8 year old. www.yorkshiretrading.com/products/galt-horrible-science-bungling-box-of-experiments?variant=45303

@Forgottenmyphone Love the football bedding idea as is practical so won't be wasted.

@1985goingbackagain love this Amazon said £5 each but when clicked on £8-9, do you know anywhere on sale?

Sorry I don’t but you might get lucky on a 3 for 2 pre Xmas type deal. I’d just keep looking and then stock up as they are great gifts for so many ages. My kids love them.

1985goingbackagain · 07/08/2026 19:46

@ChristmasMad1 they are showing at £4.95 on the link below, or £6.95 at Mountain Warehouse if there’s one near you to save on delivery? https://littlebigsports.co.uk/products/waboba-moon-ball

Waboba Moon Ball

The Waboba Moon is an incredibly bouncy ball. Great value and great fun! Suitable for age 3 plus

Boy age 11 – loves LEGO, video games and Roblox. - Roblox gift card

Girl age 10 – loves Stitch, Squishmallows, anything cute, and has recently started getting into reading. - Bling it kit, both my 9 & 12 yo DDs are asking for them atm.

Boy age 8 – loves animals, video games and Disney. I also need a birthday present for him as his birthday is in December. If 11 & 8 yo are brothers I’d go Roblox cards for both, or anything Spider-Man as it’s huge atm. Animal colouring books there are some really good ones available with decent colouring pencils.

Boy age 19 – loves football and has just got his first car, so something car-related could be good. - Personally at this age I always give cash and maybe a small gift if needed like a football team sticker for the car.

Boy age 17 – loves football. - again I always give the teens in the family cash.

Uncle age 50 – loves football and fishing. - Go on his team website and check what gifts they have. I buy DH something from his team every year, polo shirts, hats, boxers, socks and so on.

Dad age 58 – works a lot, is a fan of his job, and travels quite a lot. I also need a birthday present for him as his birthday is in December. - unsure. My own DF was easy, anything beer or favourite whiskey was his perfect gift. He also like nice clothes, M&S jumpers always went down well.

Grandfather age 77 – has been unwell so has stopped doing many of his hobbies, but he used to love gardening. I also need a birthday present for him as his birthday is in December. - garden ornament? Small indoor grow kit or bonsai tree.

I also have 5 nieces and nephews (1 girl and 4 boys, around age 7) who I need little gifts for, ideally around the £5 mark each. - Squishies they are all the rage with primary school kids, cheese, butter, dumplings, animals, nee dough. Another popular item is bouncing putty.

Love the bling it kit idea! I think I'll play it safe with the Roblox gift cards for the boys as are brothers. For age 19 and 17 can't afford much so would rather buy something little (or a few things on offer) rather than the cash. Dad is rather particular for the clothing side so prefers his own (same can't afford much as his preferred brands are expensive) and doesn't drink so that's a major aspect out. Love the indoor grow kit as he loves outside but can't go out as much. I love the idea of the bling it kit! I’m thinking I’ll stick with Roblox gift cards for the boys, as they are brothers. I second Wicked Uncle good site for ideas and unusual gifts
The Works ( not online now) for books, activity/ craft sets and games. Books 2 Door for books and book collections.
Other good sites to browse Rex London especially in the sale lots of gifts £5 and under
Temptation Gifts, again good clearance offers all ages. Truffle Shuffle and Grindstore.

@ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS where do you get a bling it kit from or can you give any examples of this please? It sounds like the sort of thing my DD would like too! Thank you

Boy- 27yo by Christmas , Bank Transfer . Not even cash in a card or a cheque . A check your bank account message on his phone .
When he was younger (late teens) I got one of those books Barry , Father Christmas Needs Your Help type , little storybook , I put £10 notes in each page with fancy paperclips -so 3 presents in 1
He doesn't do "things" just cash (little savage but that's him, No wasteage)
He doesn't drink, wear anything branded , no aftershave .

I might get him a voucher for a local fancy Turkish Barber and make him go .

Thanks, wasn't sure if there was a specific kit that came recommended! As it is my daughter has already spotted this sort of thing on temu so unfortunately is now off the Christmas list as she wants to do it this summer.

I’m getting dd12 one for a specific event she wants to bling for, just a cheap £5 one and planning on a bigger one for Christmas but I haven’t decided yet. I’ve seen them on Temu but unless I’m doing a big enough order for free delivery I will just go for one on Amazon.
