Christmas gift ideas for 23-year-old daughter with varied interests

I know it's only August, but I'm already stuck on what to get my DD for Christmas!

She's 22 and currently isn't working. She has loads of interests, but they're all quite varied, so I'm struggling to think of a gift she'd really love.

She's a huge wrestling fan, absolutely loves Japan and Japanese culture, is really into technology and gadgets, and also loves art. She's obsessed with anything retro, especially the 1970s – the fashion, music, décor, and general vibe. She also adores Winnie the Pooh.

The problem is she doesn't really collect anything, isn't interested in clothes or fashion, and if there's something small she wants, she'll usually buy it herself.

Has anyone got any gift ideas for someone with these interests? I'd love to get her something a bit different that she'd genuinely enjoy, but I'm completely out of inspiration this year!

Mother and Daughter trip to Portsmouth Comic-Con - May 2027? (Linked to her love of Japanese Culture).

You could buy smaller gifts leading up to opening a larger gift detailing a hotel stay and the event details?

@SaraHoliday Thank you, those are lovely suggestions. A stay trip sounds like a great idea, but it’s probably not something that would work for her at the moment. I’m looking more for something she can enjoy in her own time or something linked to her interests. I really appreciate the ideas though!

I would look on Etsy for vintage Winnie the Pooh items. You could look for books, figurines, etc.

Some really beautiful gift sets for Japanese cooking and serving here. Sous Chef is a very good site and IME the sets tend to be great quality.

This is the route I am thinking of for her birthday I bought her the Japan Winnie plush but I would like some more obscure items to get her.

Does anyone know of anything vintage Winnie the Pooh a 23 year old would like?

Does she have older editions of the books? Non first editions aren’t that expensive. My childhood set was used by my father and his siblings and the my child’s generation as well.

I also had copies in French growing up. I didn’t read French, but I enjoyed growing back and forth and comparing the sentences and studying the language. Maybe she would enjoy a copy in Japanese.

a bit of a wacky idea, but I used to have a vintage color wheel for an aluminum Christmas tree. I lost it in my divorce. It was awesome. It’s a bit earlier than the 70s, but very retro and fun if you can find one.

it will work with a modern plastic tinsel tree.

Can she not give you a Xmas list of things she'd like?

If she’s not working then, unless she has an alternative source of income, I would have thought that Christmas could be a key opportunity for her to acquire various things which she has been wanting for a while but can’t afford. I would wait until nearer the time and ask. It might be as simple a new winter coat, some boots or some clothes.

This sounds like a beautiful idea, I will look into this for her ♥️

She gets money from family as done a lot of odd jobs such as painting and decorating etc and anything she likes she will think about for a bit but always ends up buying for herself, she's not into expensive stuff and like to buy secondhand a lot etc. charity shops / vinted . She likes to dress retro too

There are some beautiful Japanese stationary gift boxes around.

My dd1 enjoyed getting a yucata to wear in the house instead of a dressing gown.
