That's very cute, Meeces!

I am tired today after getting up in the middle of the night to watch meteors. We did see a few though. ☺️

Poor DD was woken up and asked if she wanted to go with us last night, and said no. We both spoke to her and she says she didn't want to go. She's now saying she was asleep and doesn't recall the conversation and is upset at missing them. ☹️ DH is going to take them tonight as well. I'm not going, I want to sleep! 😴

We saw some great meteors around 11pm last night including some with trails. It was so cool. I’ll look again tomorrow.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/08/2026 09:00

How many days is it ?
I think the CountDown has gobe a bit Pete Tong

NoWordForFluffy · 14/08/2026 09:14

Google tells me 134.

Autumnal mist across the field opposite this morning. Lovely stuff!

DH got the kids up at 1am to watch meteors again, so DD got to see them. She was very firm that even if she said no in her sleep, she wanted waking up to go. Thankfully they saw a couple, and some satellites, so she was happy! They also saw the same little black kitty cat which sat with us the night before!

It's tradition to bugger up the countdown at least once in the year! Xmas Grin

I’m looking forward to when we get to 99!

FurForksSake · 14/08/2026 18:11

Do we trust Google? Perhaps it’s actually 99 and we are in double figures and we just haven’t noticed..

My wedding anniversary is on 100 days to go. Pure coincidence but I like the neatness of it.

Morning!

Cooler today and quite grey. Lovely that it's turned when I'm on a boat on the Mersey later on for a work night out! Might need a coat and a sick bag!

We're having our hair cut this morning, then pop in to see the parents and probably some housework this afternoon.

The hot weather makes my pots symptoms so awful. I really hope we are in for more moderate weather.

I have a couple of autoimmune conditions as well as fibromyalgia @FurForksSakeI really have had enough of the heat. I feel your pain.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 15/08/2026 09:06

Morning. Glad to have been part of the traditional mess up of the countdown Xmas Grin

We’re still away for a few days but it’s cooled to 23° for the remainder of our stay. Still warmer than my comfort zone (20° max) but so much nicer than the 36° we had yesterday 🥵

Loose plans for us are lazy morning (we’re all still in PJs, LO is in the park outside the door), small lunch here, beach then to a little farm with a park and nice restaurant for tea.

Have noticed the Christmas board becoming slightly busier over the last week or 2 which is always nice. I expect it will pick up a lot when the kids go back to school.

You should move up here as we've not had the heatwave anywhere near as much. Occasional boiling spells, but nothing too drastic in the main.

Mum has suggested several times I should move up there @NoWordForFluffyboth for the weather and going in to see her every day.

My fibromyalgia definitely is worth with it.

last week in wales it was cooler and damper and I’m sure my health was better.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 15/08/2026 19:44

Why I have a lovely relationship with my mum - but only because she’s 20mins away!
DH and I both have great relationships with his mum (independently of each other) purely because she’s a few hours away!

For I’m a migraine and eczema sufferer and both are markedly worse in the heat. This summer has been really hard work.
Where in Wales were you? I’m from south wales and although we’ve been away all I’ve seen is people moaning about the heat!

Saying that, I’m currently on a lounger in the back of the place we’re staying. Glass of wine next to me and thoroughly enjoying the 19° with a slight breeze that we have now. Am finally chilled (literally and figuratively 😂).

FurForksSake · 15/08/2026 19:52

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces we were near Dolgellau, remote and near the stop of a hill. We had blessed rain, we had chilly mornings, we had weather we could walk (8 miles one day) in, but also then the kids could swim in the sea at Tywyn.

We often holiday in the north of Scotland. Next year we are going to Canada if dh isn’t jobless.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 15/08/2026 20:00

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces our parents moved nearer to Fluffy last year and the distance has really helped me without going into detail.

Loving the cooler temperatures and I have all the windows open to take the indoors temperature down a notch from superthermal nuclear.

PearlsTeapot · 15/08/2026 20:02

Benefit of Scotland means it’s been 25 for the last few weeks, which is lovely and warm without being too hot!

A pleasant day here so far. There was a rumour of 11am rain, but that's all it was, other than a few spots. Disappointing!

I have washing out ( and yesterday) and not having to deal with the inevitable bonfire or barbeque (due to the restrictions . ) so no smokey clothes .
There is still a real risk of fire so thankfully everyone is taking it seriously .
