I feel weird about it come Boxing Day.

Anyone still listening to them now?

As soon as possible, preferably before Christmas. They are so stale by then. We have such an amazing repertoire of Christmas songs in this country, yet we are bombarded with the same ones year after year after year.

Which ones would you like to have heard more of?

Princesspollyyy · 02/01/2026 11:53

@RessicaJabbit

its still Christmas? Ok hun. No worries 😉

EnchantedDays · 02/01/2026 12:01

I stop listening to my general playlist which has all the ones you hear in shops, the radio etc after Christmas Day. But will still listen to eg the Jethro Tull Christmas album, or choirs/carols after that till probably about now.

HelpMeGetThrough · 02/01/2026 12:37

Stopped listening in 1987.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 02/01/2026 12:37

Christmas Day 😭😭

WhatNoRaisins · 02/01/2026 12:39

If the tree is still up then I'm open to hearing Christmas music.

feellikeanalien · 02/01/2026 12:40

My DD plays them randomly throughout the year so the answer would be never.😁

WinterSonnet · 02/01/2026 12:41

Yesterday for us. Tree is still up though.

Imperfectpolly · 02/01/2026 12:52

I was cooking a big family meal on boxing day with Xmas music in the background. My 6yo asked why I was listening to it when Christmas is over 😣

I have always felt festive until epiphany but did notice that radios immediately stop playing Xmas songs after Xmas day. I feel like 15 years ago, they were playing them up to new years.

1st December.

Yup until 12th night

It's true...

"In Western Christianity, the Christmas season is traditionally synonymous with Christmastide, which runs from December 25 (Christmas Day) to January 5 (Twelfth Night or Epiphany Eve), popularly known as the 12 Days of Christmas."

icycoldbutnosnow · 02/01/2026 20:10

We finished about 12 on Boxing Day.

glad to be rid of it all!

Princesspollyyy · 02/01/2026 20:49

Me too, so glad to have all the decorations down and don’t want to hear a Christmas song until at least December 1st 2026 😂😂😂😂

Some people cant bear to let go of it, it seems 😂

Cara707 · 03/01/2026 00:14

Epiphany but the growing trend towards ending Christmas on 31st Dec is ruining it for me a bit!

EvolvedAlready · 03/01/2026 00:15

27th! Find it weird there after to hear them!

That would be a fair comment after Christmas actually ends... It's still Christmas really.

topcat2014 · 03/01/2026 07:49

We changed the playlist in my gallery on 27th. Closed on 26th. We started on 1st Dec

BeardedBarley · 03/01/2026 07:51

Christmas Day for us.

But it isn’t still Christmas. I know all about the 12 days of Christmas and Epiphany, but these are old traditions and times change.

So many people on here insist on a religious interpretation of Christmas “because that’s what it’s called” but Christianity isn’t the reason most of us have a holiday break at this time of year. Unfortunately we’re stuck with the name, for the moment at least, and that’s used as a sort of “gotcha” by some Christians.

Plus the only gospel to talk about the wise men describes it in a way that suggests they could have taken years to arrive, so we could still be waiting for the wise men to arrive from last year’s nativity.

Christmas is a feeling, and for most of us, that feeling has gone.

I would say the opposite is true. People put their tree and decorations up when it isn't Christmas, only to then take them all down when it actually is Christmas.

Whilst I don't feel it is Christmas now and I must get tree gone today, it was most certainly still Christmas on boxing day when folk were rushing to get it all down and put away.

I see counters now on SM counting down days to summer holidays. Few can live in the moment anymore.

You might not feel that it's Christmas
You might not agree that it's Christmas

But it is still technically Christmas.

its like saying "it's Winter when I say it is ...it's cold and it's November 29th, it's Winter!"

Rather than just accepting that Winter officially starts on 21 December and end 20 March.
