I'm pretty sure DS has accidentally seen the part of the Motherland Xmas special where the mums are off to a party and see the graffiti about Santa, and has head the mums say what if a kid sees it, they can't know about the magical lies we tell them.

I'm really really hoping he wasn't paying attention! But if he was he will be asking me about it imminently.

He'd come back down after bedtime and I was feeding baby on the sofa, didn't even think about what was on the TV in the background until later. 😢😭

I really want to get at least one more Xmas out of him as a believer.

Has anyone else had a child overheard something that's made them question it? If so what did you say?

He's very switched on and hasn't believed in the tooth fairy one bit so I've always known my days with this innocence are numbered. But I'm not ready just yet. He was so so excited on Xmas eve this year. 🥺

It’s a Tv show, not a documentary. If he does ask, tell him the people on the tele are just actors, it’s a funny show for grown ups. I really don’t think you should worry.

Young kids find Christmas exciting regardless. My 6yo doesn’t believe but was still bouncing off the walls with excitement on Christmas Eve and came running in on Christmas morning with her stocking, absolutely delighted. No difference to the ones she did believe except a lot less hassle for us!

Yeah this. Same if it was some ridiculous storyline in EastEnders.

Yes I will tell him they were just doing a silly story and that it's a fake show/story not a real life documentary. But I'm worried it will have planted a seed of doubt that wasn't there before.

I know he will still be excited even when he's older but I know it's not the same as my eldest is a fair bit older than ds, so I've done it before with eldest. It's still nice sure but I love that innocent excitement.

How old is he?

Sorry I thought I'd included his age. He's six, and quite a wise one. My eldest was much less questioning that my middle child is.

6 is young enough to be gullible if you have to put a spin on it. If he is asking questions you could always do the 'Santa only comes to those who believe' line. Hopefully you'll get another two or three years out of it.
