What does “invited to Christmas” mean to you?

In my family on both sides it means the whole day - arrive late morning and stay until probably about 9:30/10pm.

Other people seem to invite people just for the meal and then they…leave?

Usually 3 days/nights. I live on the other side of the country to my mum and her partner. It was a 5 hour drive here yesterday, and we'll be going home on Saturday morning. DS1 lives three hours from my mum, he drive down last night and is going back on Boxing Day

My sister and family live in Australia. The last time they came for Christmas they stayed for 2 weeks......

Invited to Christmas (live far away) Christmas Eve afternoon til Boxing Day evening.

Christmas day - arrive before lunch and leave at 6-7pm
