Presents for someone else that are really presents for yourself

I mean this lightheartedly, just to be clear.

Just wondering if anyone else has bought any presents for someone else that are secretly a present for themselves?

My example… My DH eats soaked oats for breakfast and a tuna sandwich for lunch every.single.day.without.fail! He makes up two days worth of soaked oats and his tuna mayo mix at a time. It’s not a huge amount but if the smaller Tupperwares aren’t available he will use the huuuugest pots/bowls/vessels to store it in and it takes up so much space in the fridge. So I’ve bought him two very special little Tupperware pots just for him, that are the perfect size and won’t clog up our fridge. I’m thrilled to bits with them!

N.B. I’ve also bought him other presents, not just two measly Tupperware pots.

one year I bought DH one of those old school metal tool boxes. I was bored of all the tools laying about willy-nilly, being untidy in the garage. He knew exactly what I was doing but was suitably grateful too!

I get my family a gift that is really for me, this year we are all going to an animal experience at the nearby farm. Not every year, but i've done other experiences for us all and bought some practical kitchen items before, that are acutually for my benefit.

A garden hammock. I expect I’ll be lying in it more than anybody else.

Isn’t this known as a Homer Simpson gift?

My DH once bought me an Eric Clapton CD. He’s a massive fan and I’m not.

I got my daughter a good dolls head to practice hair styles on. I'm also going to be using it to practice hairstyles on for her 😂

I’ve bought my Mum a subscription to Marquee TV so she can watch lots of ballet. I know I’ll end up watching a lot of it with her, but I absolutely love ballet so it kind of feels like a present to myself!

Yes! I love that episode of the Simpsons when he buys Marge a bowling ball. Maybe the CD can double up as an extra large coaster 😂

I always buy my widowed DM theatre tickets. I get one for her and one for me and I will take her to the play. I always choose something I know I will enjoy!

I always buy my dad theatre tickets. I make sure it is something I want to see. We don't live close to London, we make a full day out of it and he pays for everything else so it's works out well for me. He's just happy to spend time with me so he really doesn't care that it's a gift for me

My Mum bought my Step-Dad a beautiful vase a few years ago. He was confused but she loved it!

event stuff I get, but why are people buying everyday lot hen items as presents for others just because they want them? if youre not skint, I assume it's passive aggressive
