Very stupid question about dinner prep.

I appreciate this question makes me sound like an idiot, but after you prep your Christmas dinner veg what do you do with it?
I was planning on doing it this afternoon but when I’ve googled, it says to say freeze it but it seems a bit pointless to freeze now just to defrost again tomorrow.
anyway if someone could answer in the next hour, I’d be very grateful! 🙂

Leave in saucepans in cold water.

Depends how you are prepping it but if you are just peeling and cutting just leave in bowls/pans or cold water

Leave in saucepans in cold water.

Yes, and in an outside shed or garage if you've got one.

I just put it in a bowl in the fridge or more likely a ziplock bag. I actually have no space in my fridge so all the veg is outside! It’s 5 degrees out so perfect.

Tupperware + cold water - then put in cool storage, a garage or the fridge if you have space.

Leave in cold water. In the fridge if you have the heating turned up, but just in the kitchen should be fine.

Definitely don’t freeze! Many veg don’t freeze well and go mushy once defrosted.

Depends on what veg but I’d clingfilm or put in lidded container to make sure they don’t dry out and put in fridge. Anything you want to roast, take out of fridge and remove clingfilm a while (like 30 min+) before roasting, otherwise they may be damp and not roast well.

Peeled potatoes for roasties can be covered with cold water and left like that - though admittedly I have never left them like this more than a few hours.

Veg like sprouts and carrots can be prepped and put in a zip lock bag with a little water. Potatoes peeled and in a saucepan ready to parboil.

I turn our utility room into a cold room by turning off heating, opening window slightly, and keeping door shut.

Prepped veg goes in bowls / saucepans of cold salted water, covered and into the cold room. Water gets changed before cooking.
