What's the safest time to brave M&S?

Safest in terms of not being too busy, and still having a decent amount of stock.

Do I go at 6am when the doors open? Or 9pm before it closes?

Thanks Smile

Half an hour before closing. I try to go late but mine closes at 8pm.

Theunamedcat · 22/12/2025 18:35

Depends on your area

Avoid Christmas eve I went in last year to collect DD the place was stripped and they didn't have many deliveries coming in to replenish

SellFridges · 22/12/2025 18:36

I went to a large one earlier about lunchtime. It was carnage on the surface but very well organised. Far, far too many people treating it as a family day out. Multi generations, people being shuffled round in buggies and wheelchairs (all with multiple adults so they could easily have been elsewhere). In short, the shop was fine, other people were insane.

Gingercatlover · 22/12/2025 18:39

I’m braving M&S Tuesday morning for 9am, it opens at 7, can’t do that - would have to be up way too early 🤔

Canonlythinkofthisone · 22/12/2025 19:04

I went to m&s today at about 3pm. If you ignore the staff yelling at each other like a fish market, it was quite pleasant. I only needed a few bits but they had plenty with plenty more piled up to be restocked.
Went to asda after for household bits and again, rammed with stock but loads of dithering idiots. If you dont know what you're there for, leave 🤣🤣

Crikeyalmighty · 22/12/2025 19:06

I went at10.45 today (Bath) and it was busy busy , but not horrendous -however didn’t buy bread or salad leaves due to dates-will risk that Xmas Eve am

PropertyD · 22/12/2025 19:11

Worked in a upmarket supermarket. Go when it opens. At 0600 with a list. At 0700 it will be much busier. And for god sake - don’t go family en masse!!

Quite agree. If you are in a wheelchair why are you making it so difficult for yourself. A good supermarket will help you, we had a couple of regulars who we prioritised but not between 22-24 Dec. The buggy/family thing I have NEVER understood.

I'd go very early. Should be quietest, plenty of stock. Less germs! Good luck!

I went at 8am this morning for my collection slot and had to pick up some bits that were unavailable for my delivery, it was busy, but very well organised and actually not the worst experience I’ve ever had. Lots of stock, good dates etc. I think you will be fine at 6am tomorrow :)

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 22/12/2025 19:36

Newsflash...
Live reporting... well from an hour ago. M&S fully-stocked, not all that busy. Lidl just across the way was pretty much empty, and well-stocked apart from their 5p veg. The only thing they had left was echalion shallots which we use regularly anyway, so I got two bags of those. Also came away with a half side of salmon for £7.59 and a few other bits. No cranberry sauce in either shop.
End.

Sadcafe · 22/12/2025 19:42

Personally would go early, definitely avoid mid to late afternoon as they seem to have less on the shelves then judging from a quick trip to ours today

Buscake · 22/12/2025 19:49

im just back from M&S and it was fine. Plenty of choice, not too busy and a nice atmosphere. I’ve been suffering extreme panic attacks recently and this was manageable :)

Hdpr · 22/12/2025 20:35

Ours is very well stocked, I’ve been in a few times in the last few days and it’s busy but not horrendous

Flibbertyfloo · 22/12/2025 20:44

Ours was busy but very civilised at 4.30 today and very well stocked. Loads of staff on so easier to get help and actually shorter queues than normal. Bravo M&S.

feralcat19 · 22/12/2025 20:45

I was in ours at 6pm and it was chaotic. Collecting and paying for an order was fine but actually shopping in the fresh food aisles was a nightmare. Hardly anything on the shelves, customers blocking aisles and then not knowing how to scan and pay for their shopping so it took FOREVER. I was using scan and shop so simply wanted to pay but no till was simply designated for that.

MyThreeWords · 22/12/2025 20:46

I went to an M&S food bit today and it was INSANELY crowded. I had no idea it would be like that.
The staff were operating a queueing system for even being allowed in to the food hall. But even with this measure in place it was so congested that it wasn't really possible to do all the shopping I had planned. At one point I was so gridlocked I couldn't even turn my trolley around to find a better route.

Stock was very good, but I just couldn't get to some things.

Staff were being brilliant and kind.

tinytemper66 · 22/12/2025 20:49

I went to Marks food hall in Fforestfach this morning at 8 and it was really busy. Could hardly get around without bumping in to each other. I only had a basket so was easier to navigate around the shop.

Sunnyside4 · 22/12/2025 20:52

Not M&S, but I'm aiming to be out if ours by 8am - luckily I'm a quick shopper, so will probably get there 7 30am or a little after. I went to same shop for a few bits thus morning, not frantic, but definitely busier than normal around 8.30am.

letshavetea · 22/12/2025 21:00

I visited mine today at 4pm. It was busy, but absolutely fine. Low stock on fresh large and extra large chickens (prefer to turkey). Everything else okay.

Pollyanna87 · 22/12/2025 21:06

First thing in the morning, always!

MsGinaLinetti · 22/12/2025 21:07

Mr Linetti?

OldBeyondMyYears · 22/12/2025 21:09

Collecting my preorder tomorrow at 12 noon…hoping it won’t be too painful as it’s a collection only 🤞🤞🤞

MilleniumMouse · 22/12/2025 21:41

I went at 8.45pm and it was marvellous. Hardly anyone there and still decently stocked. In and out within half an hour. Very happy Smile

Manic mayhem at 2.30 today, busy with both shoppers and staff on most aisles replenishing shelves. One massive queue snaking down the length of the shop, which seemed worrying at first, but it moved quickly as a store assistant was pointing out which checkout to go to once you got to the front of the queue. Tesco also had this system going when I went in yesterday.
