£120 budget each what do I buy?

Hi all I have a budget of £120 each for my children ( DD 5 and DD3) including christmas stocking fillers. If this was your budget what would be on your list? Where are you shopping? I'm struggling as there is too much to pick from and then I feel bad I can't buy them everything!

Please help a stuck mum in decision paralysis before time runs out 😅. I don't want to be panic buying and wrapping on Xmas eve.

What do they like to play with? What have you already got at home.

Make believe play toys and craft stuff is good for this age. Mine had happyland and mega blocks, or duplo. Lego now do sets for 5 years plus, but you may not want small lego around with younger one. We also had a wooden train set at that age both DS and DD spent a lot of time playing with it, doesn't have to be Brio we had a.mix of stuff some tesco own, some Brio and some second hand stuff as well. They really don't know at this age so as long as it's in good condition that's what counts.

I used to buy those expanding face cloths to go in stocking and fluffy socks, (DD18 still likes fluffy socks in her stocking haha). Bubble bath and a few sweets you don't need to put loads in, maybe a card game to.

Same budget and ages here OP. But we have boys.
This year we've followed the mantra of:
Something they want - they each chose a toy out of the Smyths catalogue. One was the dragon from how to train your dragon and the other is a big Jurassic park dinosaur thing. Approx £40 each.
We also got them each a retro game boy type thing with all the games preloaded. Approx £30 each. I think these were from Amazon, but DH got them so I don't know.
Something they need - DS7 needs a new backpack for school, DS3 needs new drinks bottles. Approx £20 each. These were from M&S and Argos.
Something to wear - they've each had a new fleece, we spend a lot of time outside though. Approx £10 each. Mountain warehouse.
Something to read - DS7 has had the new bunny Vs monkey book and DS3 had a couple of Hairy Maclary books. Approx £7 each. Amazon.

For stocking fillers they've each had:
New toothbrush
Chocolate coins
Bath bombs
Magic straws
Pokémon cards
Magic bubbles
Haribo cracker
Approx £17 each

These have been the biggest hit with my 4 year old. She’s spent dozens of hours playing with them.

Bubble machine. Facebook marketplace is full of second hand dolls houses for very little money. Play doh with cutters if you’ve not already got it at home. Crafting stuff - big pack of different coloured sheets of A4 card, paints and brushes, glue and things like sequins, googly eyes etc. New books, including sticker books. Something a little special to wear like a new party dress. Selection box.

For stocking fillers these were a hit last year;

plus some chocolate coins, fluffy socks, new crayons/colouring pencils, bouncy ball, gloves, bath bomb

Obviously it depends what they like.
When my daughter was that age she liked Power Rangers.
I vaguely remember getting her Power Rangers pyjamas as her main gift (probably cost about £10).
At that age they are often happy with the "smaller" things.

Biscofffiend · 13/12/2025 18:18

I love finding bargains and finding gifts what do your daughters like to play with and I can help get a list together if you like?

Sorry I should have said eldest DD loves unicorns, mermaids, barbies, anything arty. She also loves spiderman and rolling around in the mud outside 😅. We already have thinge like magnatiles and duplo. I've bought some mermaid things but put them to one side for her birthday. My smallest loves anything her big sister has so I guess I'd like to get them similar but different things.

Well it depends what they like and enjoy surely?

I have a similar age DC and shop on Amazon or will go to the toy shop and Lego shop near us.

My DC love crafting so bought crafting items, something educational (books or math cubes), something creative / constructive (LEGO this year), something I know they'll enjoy (small novelty type stuff from the works) and toys related to their favourite tv show at the moment. I also usually buy them pyjamas.

BobblyBobbleHat · 13/12/2025 19:14

Dd just wanted anything Barbie when she was 5, the campervan, aeroplane or ambulance are really good. Also the Hatchimal Alive pufficorn went down very well (I think it is only about £20 in Smyths now) as did the playmobil aquarium. She also loved anything stationery like sticky notes envelopes, glitter gel pens etc.

For the younger one maybe a new dolly that you can bath and the bath and pram for it or similar.

Fends · 13/12/2025 19:39

Home bargains have some jellycat dupes for £1.99. Really good stocking filler.

I’d get them a Lego set each, craft stuff, something for outdoors like swingball or a kite, a book, selection boxes and a family board game

shellyleppard · 13/12/2025 19:42

IKEA do some really lovely wooden train track. It lasts for years too. Our set is 20 year old now

Chinsupmeloves · 13/12/2025 22:32

If you search items and filter new/like new on vinted it's amazing what you can get! Bought loads of presents last year at fraction of the cost.

Biscofffiend · 14/12/2025 17:57

I’d get the little live pets mama surprise families baby care clinic it’s 13 on Amazon and I think Smyths at the moment I ordered one for my daughter it’s a decent size and looks sturdy

they have unicorn academy doll and unicorn set for £9.99 also on Amazon

and a Barbie mermaid for £8

The Polly pocket pony rodeo set is £8.99

i would get craft things from home bargains you can get a really decent amount for twenty pound at the moment.

a bit pricier but Argos have the pets alive magical unicorn £35 but 30 percent off with the code

home Bargains have singing Moana 2 for £5.99

My little boy (nearly 4) loves playmobil! It's pretty reasonable and often on offer on Amazon. Xx

VegBox · 14/12/2025 23:53

@Bella2021 I think that sounds terrific and just what a 5 year old would enjoy waking up to on Christmas day! Some very good canny shopping there.

Calmontheoutsider · 17/12/2025 00:18

OP I think you’re overthinking this in a massive way. Your children don’t think in monetary terms. You have bought them too much. It will be overwhelming. Why are you doing this?
At that age your children are more excited about the concept of Christmas - early night, stockings, mince pie out for Father Christmas and a carrot for the reindeers. Cut back - one present from you, one from grandparents and one from Father Christmas. That’s more magical than £120 of random stuff,
