Just came across an old post and was fascinated by the amount of gifts people seem to buy for their children at Xmas. I always thought we were very generous but now I feel almost bad!
DC will get (from us but we’ll say it’s Santa): a polaroid type camera, a big lego set, some stencils and pens/brushes.
Family is also buying him so gifts which he will get on Xmas day (need to decide if we say it’s from Santa or them!) and it’s things like a nice playmobil set, some new playdough, kinetic sand and some spiderman slippers.
He is also having an advent calendar with small bits every day this month (like a chocolate, new socks, stickers, a tiny lego person etc)

Santa just brings one gift and a stocking
Presents from friends and family are presents from friends and family.

My dc are older now so present are from me, the rest from family (we don’t have a big family so it’s not much). I have bought my dc 10 things each plus a stocking mainly full of their favourite food treats, socks, and a couple other small things.

Op just let people give from them
We do other gifts from FC.

That sounds lovely though.

Grandparents gifts should be from them not Santa. Partly because you want the kids to learn the equette of saying thanks etc.

I’ve always done one or two smaller gifts and a stocking from Santa and the rest from whoever bought them- big gifts never from Santa. Not every family can afford expensive gifts but every child deserves to have the magic. Not that we go ott, a couple of things they asked for, PJ, toothbrushes, chocolates, socks, a nice outfit, books, bath bombs and of course a satsuma in with the stocking!

as PP said it’s also a good time to reinforce thank you etiquette and appreciation. i want my dc to understand people who love them bought the gifts and also teach them the enjoyment of giving gifts to other people. This weekend im taking them to choose a gift for their grandma with money they earned doing chores (badly, but they meant well 😂) and they are so excited!

My dc have a main present each, 9 other presents and a stocking.

Surely you can't say family gifts are from Santa?!

Are they not given wrapped with tags? Do your DC not thank the people who gift them? I would be furious if the gifts I'd bought for nieces and nephews were passed off as from Santa!

Santa brings a stocking and one gift in our house. The main presents are from us.

We do stocking from santa, tree presents from us and family presents from family. All kids have a main presents and then a load of smaller presents. But im that mum who literally wraps everything so it makes their piles quite big.

Not OK to attribute family gifts to Santa, they come from the gift giver (who should be thanked) .

(But equally, your gifts should come from you with just stockings (or 1 or 2 tree gifts) coming from Santa. Otherwise your DC will wonder why you don't get them anthing).
