Teacher gift ideas

Does anyone have some good suggestions of something the kids can make for teachers? I want to give something they'll actually want. Failing that I'll just buy Costa gift cards 🙈

To be honest I would get the kids to make a card and pop a Costa card inside. Home made cards are special and easily kept without taking up too much room. A wee break for a coffee treat will be enjoyed and they will think of your DC while taking some time out!
Primary teachers will have spent weeks dealing with handmade crafts and there’s only so much space to keep gifted creations, especially when you’ve been teaching for a few years!

Oh no you're totally right about crafts/creations. I was thinking more along the lines of consumables but personalised by the kids. I know many are funny about eating things made by others, so will avoid that but I was wondering if a hamper or something would be appreciated. I worry with a gift voucher that they might not like , say Costa. But also I'd feel the need to provide £10 each as I feel £5 looks tight. But £10 each for two teachers and two TAs is a lot 😬

Teachers do not want stuff made by kids. Get the kids to make the card and put a voucher inside.

I bought some cheap plain tote bags and the kids decorated them. I then filled them with glue sticks, green pens, post it notes, board pens etc. All the things teachers often but out of their own pocket. It was appreciated and the bags were good for storage

This is nice idea, but you can’t try and pass it off as a gift for the teacher. It’s a gift for the class, not something you would do to say thank you or merry Christmas to the teacher.

Yes you can… better than yet another mug, or key ring. Believe me, I’m a teacher!

In the US, it would be a gift for the teacher who often ends up buying this stuff out of their own pocket. I don’t know any UK teachers doing that, though.

Glue sticks!

FrootyCider · 14/12/2025 17:31

Would love a Costa card, would love a big multipack of glue sticks (they are like gold dust) Waterstones do nice fancy sticky notes - usable stationary is great. Obviously, even just a card or a thank you is greatly appreciated. Just no more mugs for me - I can't throw them out and could stock a gift shop all by myself 😆

Saw a mum buying Greggs gift cards this am for her child's teachers.

WonderfulSmith · 14/12/2025 17:43

I’d prefer a B and M voucher. I’m forever buying stuff for the classroom from there.

I don’t know a teacher who doesn’t buy stuff for the class with their own money.

I know plenty of teachers and TAs, including myself, who spend their own money on the class. Sometimes on basics necessities, sometimes on things that are just nice to have in the classroom, and often on end of year gifts.

I’m not saying that a box of glue sticks wouldn’t be a much appreciated gift, because in reality, it’s a very exciting event when we get class gifts like that, and it brings much more pleasure than a key ring or bar of chocolate. But they are a class gift, not a teacher gift imo.

I nearly always get given alcohol or chocolates. I’m sober and don’t eat sugar 😂 It’s always thankfully received and then sadly regifted.

An email to the head is always a winner.
