Would you buy a gift?

I've worked as a PA for a very wealthy director for a number of years.. I am, on the other hand not at all wealthy and earn considerably less than him. He is a nice person to work for and is always respectful and polite. Every year at Christmas he buys me a nice gift to say thank you for my work over the year. I've always given him a card but should I buy him a gift too? I never have previously but I'm starting to second guess if I should?

No, he's senior to you. A card from you is appropriate as iis a gift from him.

No I don't think so.

I think even a box of chocolates might be nice? Just thinking of the thread the other day where someone said George Michael once said once he became rich not one person ever bought him a cup of coffee- they always expected him to pay.

I’ve worked as a PA/EA for over 40 years. All my various MD’s over the years have bought me a gift at Xmas but I’ve never bought anything for them. Just a card is fine.

Ahhh thank you. That's made me feel better. I just started to wonder if I should, although I could do without an extra gift to buy and he has very expensive tastes!

If you want to give him something “token’, give him something like a box of Bendicks bitter mints. But I’m sure a card is fine!
