Pokemon cards

My son wanted a tin to keep his cards in, so I got one from Vinted. Hopefully he won't be disappointed there are only energy cards in there... I'm thinking I'd better get some cards for his stocking. I nearly bought some in Sainsburys but they were in a pack of 3 packets for £15. Then I came home and read that pokemon cards are hard to come by. Are other people buying pokemon cards?

They sell them in most supermarkets and some toys shops

It depends what you’re looking for. Current and recent sets can be hard to come by and around £5 a pack isn’t uncommon. If he’s not a ‘collector’ in the sense that he just wants some cards to have in a tin, you can get bundles of random ones on Amazon or elsewhere. You can even get ‘shiny’ bundles which are a bit more exciting. The only problem is they tend not to come in the ‘packs’, which are fun to open. You could always get a bunch of the random ones for the tin and then just one pack for him to open.

My 6yo is unfortunately a ‘collector’ so my DH is constantly trying to source the latest sets and boxes for her, on email lists, WhatsApp groups etc to get stuff when it goes on sale before the scalpers get there. It was easier when she was happy with a bunch of random ones.

He has a folder with 100s of cards in, so I would say he is a collector. I just wouldn't know what he collects! He wanted a tin to keep the extras in, as the folder is full. Thanks

the card factory normally has the individual packets in. I think they were £3.90 a pack last time I got some

I'm a casual collector , as in I casually play on consoles and I like to get a few packets when I fancy or I see overseas/foreign packets when travelling. They used to be easy to get and cheap at around £3.50-£4.50 for whatever the current generation of cards was. However I've noticed that these last couple generations of cards it has been really tricky to get hold of the packets and like a previous PP said, scalpers are apparently laying their hands on them super quick. But I'm not really sure why this happening, and why right now. Like I said, just a casual collector so not 'in' with latest updates.

I tend to buy for DS either online (Chaos Cards or Magic Madhouse) or from an independent card and gaming shop in a local-ish town if I am going that way. Some of the new releases have sold out crazily fast, or been pre-order only. If you just want general booster packs and aren’t hung up on them being a particular release then they are easy to come by.
