Gifting Coffee recommendations

Ant recommendations for the best type of coffee? Ideally ground for a cafetière.

I don’t really drink it but would like to get a really good one or gift set for sometime.

Do you know what sort of coffee the person likes? There’s such a variety! We love ozone coffee, they have so many varieties and all 10/10.

TomatoSandwiches · 07/12/2025 17:24

People are really specific about what coffee they like, I've got coffee gifts really wrong in the paat so now just do vouchers and a small pack of beans to try, never flavoured instant coffee but syrup sets are good.

TheApocalypticiansApprentice · 07/12/2025 17:27

If your recipient is really keen on coffee they’ll probably prefer beans to ground coffee. And if they already have their own coffee making accoutrements a coffee bean subscription might be more welcome than random kit. (Unless you know exactly what they want?)

HeddaGarbled · 07/12/2025 17:28

Whittard do a nice selection box.

TheApocalypticiansApprentice · 07/12/2025 17:28

Syrup?

We can never be friends …

😁

Philandbill · 07/12/2025 17:35

We have a subscription with Pact coffee and really enjoy it. We get a packet by post each month. It's fairtrade which we like too.

BraOffPjsOn · 07/12/2025 17:42

Thanks all - I knew this would be useful!

He likes strong coffee and drinks black americano when out somewhere.

For coffee beans would be need a grinder then?

Another vote for Pact coffees. I gave a subscription to DH for Christmas a few years ago and we've never cancelled it!'

TheApocalypticiansApprentice · 07/12/2025 17:49

Google the best artisan / craft coffee roasters in your locality, and order beans from them.

(Single origin makes a more considered gift than any blend - but the latter will be cheaper.)

TheApocalypticiansApprentice · 07/12/2025 17:52

Yes, you need a grinder for coffee beans. I gather other people use machines Hmm but manual coffee grinding is the only acceptable start to any day …

Hoppinggreen · 07/12/2025 18:22

I bought DH some Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans for xmas, they are more than I would normally spend on coffee beans and apparently naturally decaffinated

SparklyBrickViper · 07/12/2025 18:30

Coaltown Coffee is excellent and a great company as well.

Rave coffee do a subscription and you can choose if you get beans or grounds. They have a good variety and add new periodically. I really like them.

ElizabethVonArnim · 07/12/2025 20:49

Pact coffee does a great range, and Caravan is sold in Waitrose but is very good.

Another vote for Rave.
Also, better than most for a range of decaf coffees.

Curlysusie · 07/12/2025 21:06

Dark woods coffee is very nice

It is, its local to me I think

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 07/12/2025 23:37

I agree with @TheApocalypticiansApprentice. We had an amazing coffee out this weekend and it turned out the beans were roasted in small batches just 100yrds down the road so we bought some beans direct from the roaster.
Having later looked on line, there are a number of small batches roasters in my area. I’d say there probably are in your area too.
Fresh beans make all the difference

Do this! My dad asks for coffee beans every year so I try to get from a different artisan locally each year.

I've done Dear Green, Mr Eoin, Argyll coffee and Pure Roasters.

Does anyone have any recommendations for coffee ground in Sussex then? 😂

OP posts:
Ophy83 · 09/12/2025 19:31

Are you near Lewes? I noticed about 4 last time I was wandering through. But there is probably one closer to you! Google "coffee roaster [your town's name]"

didgeridid · 09/12/2025 19:56

We like Life and Soul coffee. They also do nice gift boxes with it in on Gifting Gorilla

TheApocalypticiansApprentice · 09/12/2025 20:11

If you google ‘best coffee roasters Sussex’ several come up. Just spend some time seeing which site looks most appealing - they should talk about the provenance of the beans they sell, maybe show photos of their growers in situ, give an outline of their roasting and delivery timetables, etc. Choose one!
