We have been invited to spend Christmas with friends in Miami. Their boys are in their mid 20s. They are a very wealthy and generous family and I honestly adore them. But what can I get them for presents that can go in our luggage. We live in France but will be in the UK next week so can buy in either location.
We are a family of 6 so you can see they really are generous. Our kids are younger adults too.

Probably french and British chocolate and snacks would be a good idea

M&S Percy pigs always go down well with our US friends. And a decoration for their Xmas tree... A snowy postbox with a Robin, a double decker bus, a snowy phone box... just a token as you are reliant on luggage allowance.

Definitely something quintessentially British or French - lovely food is good, maybe something like Wedgewood/Waterford if there may be something that suits their aesthetic, or something from a French designer brand? You don't mention budget though...

I’m just back from visiting some similar friends in the US. I took some posh English Sparkling wine & some nice things from The White Company for our friends and some Jo Malone stuff for the daughters. All went down very well, although they have perfect manners so I would know otherwise. No sons though.

FOOD. Food in the US, even Miami, sucks in comparison to French food. I don't think you'll be allowed to bring in cheese, but things like chocolate (your poor friends will be reliant on Hershey! Can you imagine!) or canned food from France like cassoulet or confit duck or fois gras - it's very hard to get hold of food like that in the states.

If you are in London, go to Fortnum and Mason - get some posh chocs or bars, biscuits, tea blend etc if you have room in suitcase. Are you after token gifts? or do you want to spend? - If they drink maybe a bottle of something posh in duty free - nice Whiskey or Brandy. Is there a perfume /candle they might like - pick up at duty free. Ask your adult kids what their adult kids might like.(football tops, merch of a franchise etc)

Thanks. We are from Calvados so we will take an absurdly expensive bottle of that. Plus some canned foie gras. My understanding is canned goods are ok to take.
Chocolate is a good call.

They very rarely cook is my feeling and are keto (or at least the parents are).
When we stayed with them last year their spare bathroom had a million smellies in it so probably don’t need to add to that. I thought I might take some Caudalie stuff.

Calvados or Armagnac or even some French Whisky would be my choice.

Someone gave me these for Christmas too- they are horrible! Sugary and waxy tasting!
